Hubby says he thinks that the plyo x is considered the same as HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) ...

...Is that true?

I'm unsure either way. I have no side or opinion. or clue.

I must admit, I disagree with the consensus on that thread. I think it all depends on fitness level.

For some people it would just be a tough cardio workout. For the less fit it's definitely approaching HIIT, even if the ratios are wrong. The first few times I did it my heart rate was almost 100% of my supposed max at times, and after the five minutes of moves I was gasping like Hell in order to recover for the next round. I was also pushing myself to the point where I could barely breathe and I couldn't stand up (on the squat jump moves) and so was needing to hit pause in order to recover, before carrying on. That's pretty much HIIT as far as I'm concerned.

Now I'm fitter I just find it to be a tough, tough cardio workout - my level of exertion doesn't go high enough (and I take no extra pauses) for it to be considered HIIT.
