Thanksgiving: the fat kid's best dream and worst nightmare!

So Thanksgiving is a time of thanks, fun, food, family, football, etc...but for someone trying to lose or maintain their weight, it can be one of their favorite days or one of their most despised days or both at the same time!

What are YOU doing this Thanksgiving to combat those calories??

I'll go first:
1. Thursday morning I'm participating in a short little run with some friends. The entry fee is $2 or some non-perishables and all the food/money will go to a local food bank.
2. I'm planning ahead since I know I will have at least 2 Thanksgiving dinners ON Thursday. I know which foods each person normally brings, so I'll have my mental measuring cups ready to take the proper portions of the foods I just HAVE to have, and fill the rest of my plate with greens veggies.
3. Friday I'm participating in an event at the Y called the Turkey Burn. They'll have the gym open to the public to come do a spin class, a step class, and a Zumba class - or all three - or just two - or whatever you feel like doing. I'm NOT staying up all night to go shopping for Black Friday and I'm NOT sleeping in all morning just because I don't have to work that day
4. My water bottle is not leaving my hand because I'm sure there will be LOTS of sodium in all that yummy food.

Ok - your turn - what are your Thanksgiving plans??

We had thanksgiving last month, and I ate the turkey, stuffing and gravy and lost weight. Come christmas I plan on getting an excellent workout in each day and have dinner in moderation.

Oh yeah! Canada DID already have their Thanksgiving! I guess I could have limited this post to Americans, but that's not fair, so maybe I should have said "Holiday Dinners" instead of "Thanksgiving". Don't want to leave anyone out! :drinker:

I'm in Canada too and I'm so glad there's more time between Thanksgiving and Christmas. More time to build up some will power. :)
