Heya Gang!
I'm truly proud of the peeps in my friends list for listening to my ranting about the importance of eating above your BMR and knowing your maintenances calories!
Also I think having those diaries open allows your friends to give great feedback and get ideas from those who are truly making this website work for them!
It's all about supporting each other and taking all the positive comments as well as the negative!
For those who arent on my friends list yet feel free to add!

If you click on a friends diary and it says 1200 or lower and they are overweight, please have them research the BMR and maint calories and dont praise stupid dieting!!!
Starving yourself can have very very bad results on your body!
starving=eating below BMR daily.
Thyroid issues
Muscle loss (we want to up our lean body mass when dieting folks!)
Fertility issues
Testosterone issues in men (hard to build muscles and get rid of "man boobs"!!!)
Psychological issues including depression! If you finish your diary and make this face >.<

are you saying 1200 net or 1200 total? because there are days i don't net 1200... most days. but i eat like 1450 a day right now., i just exercise 250 of them away.0

Though its always good to eat back whats lost especially when you exhaust a muscle group.
Always follow up a workout routine with a balanced meal that is high in protein so you feed the muscles.

Even 1200 is going to be below most peoples bmr... punching in random numbers, a 5'0 100lb 30 year old womans bmr is 1231.0 -

will do, thanks for the advice... i know i need to increase calories but i've been having a not so bad time losing the weight i've lost that it scares me... but i know it is what i need to do. if that makes sense. it's an internal battle with a number higher than 1400. but i know it will help to increase slowly0 -
Thank you for this! Some people drive me crazy swearing to everyone that they 'can't' lose weight unless they eat less than 1,000 calories in a day... It's just plain irritating...0

I've been doing 1200 a day (and not seeing a whole lot of results -although I am only 4 pounds above normal weight range), and I am now realizing that I probably am eating too few calories. At 5'6" and 159 and 41, this site says my BMR is 1403. I am fairly sedentary (computer engineer) but am on my 5th day of 30DS, so that is giving me an extra 200 cal or so, which I am now eating. I am feeling a lot hungrier since starting 30DS, which I figure is a good sign that my metabolism is being boosted.
Last year I was 180 and lost 20 pounds eating about 1500 a day, and I maintained it for awhile, then 8 pounds crept back. I have lost that now, but seem to be hanging out around 159-160. I really want to get to 145, with a possible future goal of 135. So, should I up my base calories to over 1400 and then also eat back my exercise calories?0 -
I read something about if you wanted to lose you should eat 500 calories under your BMR and to maintain 250 over. Thoughts?0
