The Beatles, Bob Dylan (not a band, but he needs to be here), Pink Floyd

Totally agree!!! I gotta throw Radiohead and Brand New out there!

I spent my last long road trip (22 hours total) listening to nothing but NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Podcasts. I'm not an NPR fan, but damn they have the same taste in music as I do.

My favorite three finds were Fanfarlo, Lightning Dust and the Avett Brothers. I could listen to them nonstop.

Also, check out voiceproject.org. It's a bunch of covers by bands/singers of other bands/singers. That's where I found that Cameron Hull cover :)

    Ahhhh......the Decemberists too.

Anyone familiar with The Swell Season or The Frames?

Was introduced to both The Swell Season and The Frames by a friend a couple years ago and had the opportunity to see The Swell Season in concert...absolutely FABULOUS :)

I'm not familiar w/the first two bands, but I love The Avett Brothers.

I have a friend from high school who plays bass in a band called The Wood Brothers...similar kinda sound.

Uh, just listened to Lightning Dust. And I'm usually not into women singers (with a few exceptions), but I'm so into her voice.

You took to her faster than I did. The first time I didn't like it, but her voice kept popping in my head until I listened again. And again. And then a little more.

I'm not a huge fan of the style, there's almost a pop-esque kinda thing (you know that bordering sounds of indie/pop that I'm talking about?) I have a hard time getting into that. But I like her quiver in her voice.

Dave Matthews reminds me of high-school. Then I get all depressed thinking about how old I'm getting. Hahah!

No objection! Yes, a little more mainstream, but they have a cool sound no doubt about it.
