Okay, so at my place of employment... I stand at a register and check/bag groceries. I mean for 6 hours a day almost nonstop sometimes. Thats 3 days out of my week... I also walk across the register area and squat to get cigarrettes and clean and sweep ect.

my question is- how can i list this as part of my exercise. I OVERLY move to emphasize muscle use and any stretching i can.

Not to be a bummer, but if going to work is part of your daily activities (as it is mine), you really shouldn't list it as exercise. It's already a part of your life and your body is used to it. If your anything like me, one day I will not feel like working out, and justify my action with all of the "exercise" I did at work. Next thing you know, I stopped going to the gym all together. IMO, I'd only add addtional exercising that I do, Like going to they gym, walking, hiking, etc.

don't log it as exercise. change your activity level to lightly active.

I wouldn't log it at all. When you create your profile, you set your activity level. Choose the one that matched best to your working activities.

Did you put your activity level at sedentary?

I personally wouldnt log it as exercise. Especially if you arent breaking a sweat.

And if its only three days a week, i dont know if i would change your activity level.

i always log an 8 hour shift as 60 mins walking 2.0 thats walking slowley. i do the same sort of job that u do and it really is hard on you at the end of the day we probably do more than 60 mins walk. unless u have worked in a store people dont realise how hard it is
  • Yeah, Im not very used to the rushes. In this store its usually dead but with the holidays coming up I'm practically running around like a chicken with my head cut off. putting food back that ppl didn't want, lifting 20.30 lbs of dogfood every so often, all the gosh dang turkeys! I had to stretch my back at work every chance I got because it was soooo sore. I wouldn't want to list it as exercise if it were normal but business is picking up and everyone in this town is like REALLY lazy and want US to get their turkeys, 24 pk sodas ect.. in and out of the carts. its much more work than someone might imagine.

so i think for the days like yesterday (and hopefully they might have gotten most of the stuff out of the way and gimme a break today) i will log it as 60 mins slow walk... just as the extra effort. this is a once a year busy streak. i've only done this once before in my life o.o and then i was the new kid so i got a lot of help. and we weren't so short handed.
