I'm not new to weight loss but I am new to really putting the effort into this time. I seriously need to change my life style. it's been three weeks so far and I'm already finding it hard. I do night shift work, which makes it hard to keep a set scheduled time of when I eat between day's i'm off and nights I work. not to mention I change every three months from night to day shift. Does anyone have any suggestions for night shift eating???
also, I love my co-workers, we are a very tight group. but I'm finding it hard this week. I have been asked by at least 5 different co-workers if I wanted to order out or get fast food. and I work this whole weekend. I've said no most of the time but I broke down and had half a cup of ice cream that one of them brought. they are starting to get the picture that I'm trying to loose weight but it's really hard say no to people that are closer to me than my family. any suggestions for not feeling guilty about saying no to people? or not feeling like your missing out?
and another thing! MY ROOMMATE!!!! She is much smaller than me and she is always bringing junk food into the house or ordering pizza (my weakness). How do you say no to pizza when the smell fills the house or when it's sittting in your kitchen at least twice a week?!
I've lost only 10 lbs in three weeks and I plan on loosing 80 more by next year. I guess what i'm trying to say is HELP PLEASE!!!

Only ten pounds in 3 weeks? That is awesome!!! I just wanted to say that there really isn't anything that you can't have, if you work it into your day. If you look at my diary, I have ice cream or some other treat every day. Knowing that I will have it at the end of the day seems to prevent me from cravings like that all through the day...its not forbidden anymore. You can do it! Stay strong! :-)0

 way to go with your 10 lb weight loss..... and restricting yourself too much sometimes is also not a good idea...give yourself some credit... your are doing great...0

You mention that you are close to your co-workers - then do them the honour of knowing your goals and ambitions. Tell them you need/want to lose weight, as it will improve your health/fitness/happiness, and ask for their assistance.
With respect to your roommate ... can you go for a walk while she eats the pizza? Go bowling? Go shopping? Go to the library?
Once the pizza is gone, its not an issue. And cold pizza is never as nice as hot pizza. Repeat after me ...
Besides, if you go for a walk, then you are helping yourself too ...0 -
10 Pounds in 3 weeks is a great start! You are doing better than you thought you were! Like others have posted here. Ice Cream and Pizza are not off limits. You can fit those foods into your calorie needs occaisionally as a treat. The trick to making this work is don't deprive yourself!! This isn't about losing weight quickly....this is about changing your lifestyle and the way you view food. You need to look at food as fuel....
So, for starters. Keep food with you at ALL times! 100 cal packets of nuts, granola bars, apples, etc. Having these items handy at all times will give you an alternative when you are tempted by something you don't really want to have but "it's there". Also, you can order out! And fast food now has some amazing options! I myself had McDonald's tonight for dinner. They have an amazingly yummy grilled chicken salad that comes in at only 390 calories! And if I want a treat their snack size fruit and yogurt parfaits are delicious! and around 100 cals! I have a love of ice cream...so I stocked my freezer with Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches...they are so yummy and only 140-150 cals. Well worth the treat without making me feel like I sabotaged anything.
Pizza...I myself had 2 pieces of pizza this week at a meeting. I chose the 2 smallest pieces from the box, enjoyed them, entered the calories, then headed to the gym to make sure that I worked off the cals as well as the additional ones I needed to make sure I had enoughs cals left to have my protein shake after my workout.
It is ALL possible! It's about finding what works for you and making decisions. At first I felt like I thought of nothing except food when I started out....now it's all second nature. It does get easier once it becomes your new healthy lifestyle. You can do it! keep up the good work!0 -
thanks for all the great advise ladies!!!0

If you get your macros from pizza then join in!
But...
Portion control!
Does she know how you are struggling with her pizza shinanigans?0 -
Pizza is a big downfall for me as well, here is a healthier version I like that satisfies my craving. The veggie mixture makes multiple servings, so it's great to make and keep in the fridge - then when your roommate orders pizza, just bake your own.
Pita Pizzas
whole wheat pitas
extra virgin olive oil
2-3 roma tomatoes, diced
1 medium yellow onion, diced
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 yellow or orange bell pepper, diced
1 green bell peppper, diced
black olives
fresh spinach
3 cloves garlic, minced
fresh basil, torn
1 TBSP Mrs. Dash Extra Spicy
2 TBSP fresh grated parmesan
1/2 c part-skim mozzarella cheese
Combine tomatoes, onion, peppers, black olives, garlic, parmesan, and Mrs. Dash.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Leave pitas whole. Rub 1 tsp olive oil onto each pita. Place spinach leaves and torn basil onto pitas. Top with veggie mix and mozzarella. Place onto baking sheet and bake until edges are crispy and cheese is bubbly, 15 - 20 minutes.0 -
You could ask your room mate to get a Kashi pizza!
1/2 is only 300 calories and the only thing it spikes in is sodium!
