Are you eating the full amount? If not, what range are you staying in? I just find this is a lot of calories!

    I average around 2,200 cals/day after exercise.

Yep! I eat every delicious bite. I'm set to 0.5 lb per week, which only gives me 1490 calories (boooooo :grumble: ). So I workout a lot (I burn about 3000+ weekly) and average 1800-1900 calories.

If you have a hard time, try eating more calories dense foods. I can eat up to 4 or 5 tbsp of Peanut Butter. I also have almonds for snacks daily.

I am set at 1530 calories, but with exercise, I eat about 1800-2100 calories a day.

It took me a while to get used to it. I try to get around 1900-2000 calories/day and some days I just can't do it; however, adding more nutritionally sound, calorie-dense foods like nuts and fruit helps a lot.

    When I was losing I ate between 1800 and 2500 total a day. I netted 1750 to 2000.

Now I'm trying to gain so I net 2500 on average, and eat between 2300 and well, Monday I ate almost 4000.

I am over 2000 cals for the day I do try to eat them but rarely eat my exercise calories. I have started eating more calorie dense foods, nuts, raisins, peanut butter. It does seem like a huge amount to eat but when I was shorting my self I saw a slow down in weight loss so I guess I have to eat more to lose more blows my mind but works.
  • Most of the time, yes. I am 1880/day, and I eat my excercise cals (or some portion) most days. Unless I do Zumba, which adds almost 1000 extra calories.

Currently maintaining @ 2500-3500 a day (3000 average). Still get hungry quite frequently, I'm always w/i 5 cals of my goal.

Currently trying to gain (muscle) on 2800 net. Most days I find it pretty easy to get that amount, but if I've been out a lot in the day (especially if that includes the gym) I can find it really hard.

You're welcome to look at my diary, I think it's public :)

My maintenance is about 1700 net, so with exercise, I'm around 1900-2200, depending on how ambitious I'm feeling. I don't have a hard time eating all the calories at all, but I'm beginning to think I might need to start adding a protein shake to hit my macros.

I eat a little under 2000. Over on leg day.

I look at it as if putting gasoline into a car. If you know you have a long journey to go, you full the car up. You don't put $5 worth of gas into the car and expect it to run all day. The engine will malfunction because it didn't have the fuel it needed to run all day.

Same with food. If you are working out, lifting heavy objects, or on your feet all day, a couple salads a day is not going to cut it. Your body will go into starvation and eventually, the body gives up.

I'm set at 1840 for maintenance which will turn into 2200+ on exercise days. I try to eat all of it but am not always successful--I have a VSG so my appetite is low and it takes all day to eat those calories since, like most folks on here, I avoid high calorie, high fat foods.

I missed part of the question. I haven no problems eating that much. I don't eat "diet" foods. I eat eggs, sugar, cheese, sometimes 2% or whole milk (although I don't like the taste much), red meat, protien shakes, fruit, real salad dressing. Seriously it's easy for me to eat 2600 calories a day.

I work out once per week (heavy weights) and my cardio is walking to and from work every day (almost 5 miles), and I take in at least 1800 calories a day and have kept losing even though I'm at maintenance, so I might need to up it. I don't like to add my walking because I've been doing it for so long, I figure my body has adapted to it and it doesn't burn what it likely should. I do try to do intervals when I walk though (start slower, then go super fast for a few minutes and then let my heart rate lower and go super fast again, etc but it's hard to do that on a big city's streets!)

I add a few tablespoons of coconut oil to my lunch to help get me up to that amount. I typically have over 1000 left for dinner, and I just can't eat that much anymore without adding some high calorie, low dense foods (like my coconut oil).

I'm aiming for 1800, but I usually range from around 1400-2200, depending on if I exercise. Sometimes it's hard to get to, but it's great having so many to play with.

I'm set to maintenance, 2000 calories. I have no problem at all eating that amount! Sometimes I eat really super clean and nutrient filled foods, and sometimes I sneak in a Mars bar! I generally am eating about 2400 calories a day. It's very, very easy for me to eat that amount (alarmingly easy!). Nutrient dense foods have a lot of calories. I just love it, I'm not starving anymore!

I average 2250 or so a day and it's pretty hard to eat that little sometimes. Before I changed my ways I probably averaged 4000 a day.

^^Yes. same here. It feels like I am eating WAY MORE than I ever did to get fat in the first place, but when I just ate when I was hungry, sometimes I was only eating 1000 and netting 600 with exercise. Eating more makes me lose weight faster (go figure) but it takes some training. I eat 6 meals a day (notice I didn't say SMALL!) and usually by the sixth one I drink it as a hot Milo (hot chocolate) because I can't face eating another bite!

This is hilarious! This is what I'm trying to do too! maybe we need to start a 'The Price is Right' group and see who gets the closest to their cals without going over every day...
