I love beer, but when I'm actually minding what I'm drinking I choose Gin or Vodka tonics (no diet tonic) or started drinking straight Martini's like the "marilyn monroe"... I get a better buzz faster and my drink lasts me longer. even a few of these drinks can still add up! So either that or 1-2 light beers... I'd have the tonics/martini's if you can be hardcore enough to drink them.

run a few miles. Or what I do is take one night a week off. On that day, i eat/drink what I want within reason. That still gives me 6 days a week to hit the mark.

    That's what she said.

    run

Rum and diet coke are a staple of people on this website.

Really? That seems inconsistent with all the diet coke is evil threads.

It happens. Either work out and earn those calories, or just enjoy it and get back on track tomorrow. One day over here and there isn't going to ruin anything.

I agree, that is so true.

    Here's an interesting site: http://getdrunknotfat.com/

The calories listed are per 12 oz (a can of beer), so you'd have to do a little math to figure out how many calories per shot of rum or whatever. I think a shot is 1.5 oz.

I loves me a good beer, too, but if I drink something else it's usual Capt. Morgan and Coke Zero (or Diet Coke). Yes, it's probably evil, but baby steps, man! All things in moderation, but I double workout if I drink now.

I found this, too, from the livestrong site (the last sentence is a bummer):
    WEIGHT LOSS
Alcohol contains 7 calories per gram, which is only 2 calories less than fat. These calories are considered "empty" as alcohol does not have any nutritional value. According to the Berkeley Wellness Letter, when you drink an alcoholic beverage, your body will immediately begin to use the alcohol for energy, ignoring the three macronutrients -- protein, carbs and fat. Therefore, drinking alcohol slows the body's ability to burn fat.

Id rather drink water than light beer, I mean WTF is the point? If your going to drink just put forth a little effort and get what you want!

Do a heavy workout before you go out. :) You can do it! No need to deny yourself a good time. :)

I like my cocktails too so I do my best to stay away from the bar but I'm realistic too. In fact I am a team captain of a pool team that plays (in a bar) every Sunday afternoon. It is hard to resist so instead of drinking my fab Gin & Tonic (171 calories) I have switched to Michelob Ultra (95 calories) I tried MGD 64....yucky poo poo. Tastes like, well I guess I can't really say that!

another great website is www.wastedcalories.com (the name does say it all)

If you're gonna drink beer, drink real beer. Light beer tastes like garbage, as it's basically watered down, so all you get is watered down bitterness. Not everything needs to be low calories. I drink 200 calorie beers regularly, I'd say my ticker speaks for itself.
