I am a HUGE fan of the Ziploc Steam Fresh Bags! It helps me get full and be healthy at the same time. I usually only make chicken breast or salmon and then a large helping of some type of veggie. I'll flavor it with Mrs. Dash as that has no salt/cals/fat etc.
Then I'll have a side of brown rice. I just wanted to see if anyone else uses these, and if so, what do you cook in it?

  • How do you do it?
  • They are basically bags that you can put anything in (potatoes, veggies, meats etc) and it steams it for you. I take my chicken breast and veggies, pop in the microwave for 3 minutes and my lunch is all done! The chicken comes out nice and moist.

I have to admit- I use them only in a pinch. It freaks me out. If I had the choice our microwave would be gone.

I've never used them, so I can't offer any advice. However, I just might start using them now after your recommendation! Thanks!

I have used them before, mostly for veggies. Good idea to start using them again. Makes it so quick n easy. Love it especially for asparagus, broccoli and cauliflower.

Do you know how to make rice with them?

I've used them for veggies (which I love doing because I'm lazy and like it to be quick! lol). I think it would be great if I could make rice with it too. haha

I use them to steam broccoli and carrots for our meals. It's the only way our son will eat veggies. When I try to cook them on the stove he informs me they are too mushy and won't touch them!

I always use them for veggies. When you cook a steak does it taste good or does it have that funny microwave taste? BTW: I'm going to try it for chicken next. Thanks, I don't know why I didn't think of it.

I will typically cook my brown rice in a steamer, then baggie it up, stick it in the freezer and use it as needed. Takes 2 mins in the microwave to re-heat.
I use glad (tupperware type) containers for all my other food.
  • I love to use them for chicken breast and veggies. It's nice on the nights when my husband whats to eat steak and I want to stick with chicken, because then I don't have to dirty up a pan just for me. When I do the chicken, I just season it with salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Turns out perfect.
