Getting over the Hump

I have noticed that a lot of people on here all have tickers stuck around 30 lbs lost. I started this on August 1 and was losing at a rate of 10 lbs per month. I know that is bound to slow down with time here, but what is it about these plateaus such as the one I am at? What is it about this mark that it seems so many people get caught at? What are some tips people have to get around them? What extra thing can be done or shouldn't be done. I just feel like I am settling in and the weight is barely coming off anymore. Not wanting lose any motivation here before the holidays, what does everyone recommend?

I'd love to hear what people have to say. I am currently stuck around 35lbs lost, been here for almost three weeks now.... :-/
  • I hit my plateau after only a couple of pounds and I'm currently pushing to try to fall off of it and keep losing, and man I hope it happens SOON

Maybe it's time for a new goal. Build some muscle and don't focus so much on weight loss anymore. The body needs challenges every now and then.
  • sometimes you need to change your workout routine. Also sometimes you need to increase your calorie count. It could be so many things.

My ticker says 10lbs lost, but I lost 35lbs before joining. I got stuck at 30lbs lost. I started eating more fruits and veggies and stepped up my exercise. Mix in some new exercises. Now I'm currently 45lbs down and still going.

Good luck with your weight loss.

My ticker only shows 7 lbs, but since March I lost almost 70 lbs. I plateaued a few times. For the first one, I upped my calories a little and paid very careful attention to water. So if you're at a 2lbs/week loss intake now, try a 1.5lb/week loss for a couple weeks.

There are a lot of other ideas out there too, adding this all up it seems if you do *something* different you have a good chance of getting past the plateau.
