I think it would be okay to jump to 1.5

Be prepared though in your last 20 pounds to go back to 1/2 to 1 pound per week. You'll need to go slower then to make this work, but it will!

I have mine set at 1.5 and have since the beginning, I average between 1 and 2 pounds a week, this last week I lost 2.6 pounds so I'm really happy with it, I find I can eat the calories "allowed" to me and feel full and happy and have room if I want a treat occasionally... it's all personal preference...

Mine's been set at 2lb since I started on here - but I've an awful long way to go...

I am @ 1.5 pounds per week, I have met or exceeded that except the three week scale freeze of early Oct.

I've thought about increasing to 2 pounds, but this is working for me.

OP from your profile it looks like you're looking to lose around 70 lbs - I think you can safely set your loss at 1.5 or even 2 lbs per week, no problem. I'm not an expert by any means, but people with more weight to lose can generally start out losing at a faster rate and then just expect the loss to slow down as you get closer to your goal. In the beginning I was looking to lose 40 lbs, I set my MFP goals to 2 lbs per week and MFP gave me a 1200 calorie goal, I actually lost 1 lb about every 4-5 days (probably didn't have as much wiggle room to *acutally* lose 2 lbs per week- and MFP will not give you a calorie goal less than 1200). I scaled it back to 1 lb per week a few weeks ago since I'd already lost close to half of my goal. Try out whatever sounds like a good goal for you, you can always switch it up if you feel you need to. Plus after you lose 10 lbs, MFP will automatically suggest that you re-evaluate your settings. :-)

Mine is set at 1.5 and I have lost anything from 0, to .5, to 3 pounds in a week following the plan.

I have mine set to 1lb but I don't mind if I am 500 calories under on some days as I know I could of chosen a 2lb loss. I lose between 0.8 and 3.5 lbs a week average around 2lbs

It's quite safe to set your loss rate higher. MFP is very conservative when it comes to setting weight loss goals.

I lost 95 pounds thanks, in part, to MFP. My average, over 7 months, was 3.2 pounds per week.
