Getting take out at a local Thai restaurant and looking for suggestions for dinner! I have about 600+ calories left for the day after all said and done. Anyone know what is ok to get other than tofu, i hate tofu :( Thanks!

In lieu of tofu, I usually just ask for extra vegetables (vegetarian, so no meat).

If I'm watching it at a Thai restaurant, I get tom yum soup and chicken satay, or the satay and spring rolls (fresh, not fried). It will have insane amounts of sodium, but not terrible in terms of calories.

I ate out at a Thai restaurant a few days ago and I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp and tofu. It was about 350 calories for about 1 1/2 cups of Pad Thai and 1 cup of rice.

That's pretty unlikely. One cup of cooked rice has about 200 calories. There are also about 200 calories in 1 cup of rice noodles. So, it's already over 350 without including the shrimp, tofu, vegetables, oils, and other ingredients in the pad Thai.
  • This thread is perfect. Thai is my absolute favorite and we're going out to dinner tonight before we see Breaking Dawn:bigsmile: and I was wondering how I would manage this outing. Tofu and extra veggies it is!!! YUM!

I was looking at my rice wrong. I only had 1/2 cup rice which was 103 calories, 1 1/4 cup pad thai at the restaurant I was at was only 215 calories. Then I had a small eggroll that was 140 calories with no sauces. So unless this restaurant is giving false info then that is what they reported to me. :)
