Hello,
My name is Donna and I live in Northern Michigan. I have a 19 and 12 year old. I started to lose some weight over the summer, I was doing pretty good by cutting out sugar but that didn't last very long. I lost 14 pounds so I added it to my total on here. It's amazing to me how fast the pounds can go on and how slow they come off. I work nights so I've been counting my days as starting and ending at 7 A.M. I am also a part time college student. My friend and I set up a little make shift gym in my basement. Anyway the best part of this site so far is the ability to enter the food I eat via computer or cell phone. I aways knew that would be the key to my weight loss. I've bought fancy booklets and found other web sites but this one is the bast so far. I've only been doing it for a few days but I quit the booklet real fast. Sparkpeople is good too but it was a pain to log food. Not sure if they have changed in the last year or so. Anyway I just wanted to say hello and I hope I stick to this and/or help someone else stick to it at least.

Welcome I have been using this site now for over 50 days, and Sunday is the end of my 8th week. I am doing much better than even I expected. I had a gastric bypass in 2005 and at that time I just did not believe I could do this on my own, at 400 lbs it seemed daunting, so I elected to choose some medical help. I lost down to 220 and maintained 220-230 until around early 2010 when I developed nerver issues with my leg, as I have spinal stenosis, and when that happened it took me 8 mths to get things worked out enough to exercise once again but the weight did begin to creep. Then last year a lot of stress, a sucky project with my job and before you know it I gained 50 lbs! I was so disapointed in myself, but I finally got it.... one must count calories and know what you are eating, and it has finally made me make much better choices. I still have cheat days, just only now once per week usually on the weekend but even then I try to limit my intake and just make better choices. I have actually used the site site now for 55 days without interuption and it is working for me. The only thing I wish I had now is either a smart phone or a IPad of some kind to help out when I travel, but so far so good, logging food in 1st thing in the morning, and then lunch time and evenings.

Good luck to you I know you will be able to do this and you will find the site so very helpful.

Welcome Donna....I am sure you will find this site helpful....I know it is for me...in fact I find it a little addicting! LOL I enjoy reading others posts/blogs. It gives me inspiration to keep going, it gives me confidence that I am not the only one going through this and it is nice to know that I am not the only one struggling with things. You will definately find that when you ask a question you will get answers or at least honest responses. I definately like the accountability aspect for myself, when I don't log my food, I am not very successful.

I am also a night shift worker and that in and of itself is a totally different set of issues. I find myself searching for food out of boredom or simply to stay awake. sound familiar? I am happy to say though, that after 9 weeks of consistently logging my food and exercising I am almost at the 20lb mark and back into onederland! So...it works! Just be consistent and take advantage of the friendships you can develop on here to help you keep going!

  • Hi Donna,

Girl I hear ya...our stories are alot alike. Glad youre here, and I wish you all the luck, actually luck doesnt have a thing to
do with losing weight...like you said, its being accountable for every bite you take, so far, I have been able to stick to that, and
you will too! I also have health problems, (different ones tho) that keep me from working out the way I want to, the way I used to,
Add me if you like, myself, and all the others I've met here would be glad to support and encourage you.
There are lots of blogs, posts and recipes even, to take advantage of, Im glad youre here, and Congrats on your weight loss this far!
    Have a beautiful day,
    Sandy

I'm killing my workouts!!!! So proud of myself. Did 250 calories on the bike twice. Once while watching Biggest Loser on Tuesday. Did 100 calories on the treadmill tonight and made a small effort with the weight training. Came pretty close to spending my night wrapped up in a blanket so I'm glad I did a small workout.
  • Hi I'm new as well and I for sure need a buddy. I'm 5'2 and I'm 120 lbs of fat lol. Someone come and motivate me
