I looked at my whole wheat spaghetti and normal spaghetti packs to compare ....
Wholewheat:
Calories: 245kcal, 12% of your GDA
Sugar: 2.6g, 3% of your GDA
Fat: 1.4g, 2% of your GDA
Saturates: 0.3g, 2% of your GDA
Salt: trace
White:
Calories: 270kcal, 14% of your GDA
Sugar: 1.8g, 2% of your GDA
Fat: 1.1g, 2% of your GDA
Saturates: 0.2g, 1% of your GDA
Salt: trace
If wholewheat is meant to be better for you why does it contain more fat, saturated fat and more sugar?

Whole grains are not as sweet as refined - there is more natural fibre and other content that is not as "tasty" - so more sugars and fats are often added to improve the taste.
It's great that you are checking the labels. A similar thing happens with "fat free" products - they usually make up and sometimes exceed the original calories with sugar and other ingredients. If the carbs are low, the fats may be high. So, read the labels carefully!0 -
so I have bought the wrong one? POO!! I guess I'll need to look at packages before buying them instead of automatically thinking they're better for me. And there I was thinking I was doing well :grumble:0

buy it in the organic section where the ingredients added are not chemicals. Although it may have " added stuff", the whole wheat is much better for your body. The nutrients aren't stripped from in like in white pasta0

Actually I was recently wondering the same after wanting to buy a packet of fresh wholegrain pasta and it turned out be worse on every nutritional value than the white spaghetti.
I guess I will stick to the white version. A little more calories (which is good because i hardly meet my calories on some days...)

You need to compare the fibre as well when you look at other whole wheat brands.0
