  • It depends on whether you're talking about normal muscle soreness from your workout or an injury. If it's muscle soreness, you will probably actually feel better when you work out. If you've injured your back, you need to let it heal before returning to the same workout.
  • quite often when you have not exercised for a long time the first few days can be a wake up call for muscles you have not used....they need to be retrained. perhaps you could continue the workouts as planned but reduce the intensity of each movement until your muscles catch up....so when the workout asks for stretch do not quite go to full extension (still stretch just not quite as much) keep going with the cardio and pump the blood and oxygen to the muscles.....they will soon relearn what needs to be done and you will have more enjoyment from the workout.

hope this helps....it has worked for me and i can now work much harder!!

    good luck!! :)

I work out to be sore - I'm not sure why you think it's not fair. Being sore is a good thing. It means you've worked your muscles like you're supposed to. If you're not sore - you're probably not working your muscles enough. Anyway, your back may hurt because of tight muscles in your legs, thighs, and butt! these clusters of muslces tighten up and pull on your back -- try foam rolling and lots of stretching. You can work out when you are sore. But rest is just as important as working out - so be sure to take at least 1-2 days a week off from working out to rest your body. Your body needs it - and you have to learn to listen to your body.

When I did the 30 DS, my knees started to hurt, and I've never had knee problems before. I started to alternate doing 30 DS one day and Turbo Jam (or anything different) the next, and it really helped. I'd say to let it rest for a day, and then try doing a different type of exercise before doing 30 DS again. Honestly, I don't think she's very good about explaining proper form on that DVD.

I don't think its injured but considering I've been doing it with 2kg weights I would think my arms/shoulders would be sore.. or my legs but no just my lower back aches so much its hard to bend!!!

30 day shred is NOT meant to be done every day. It is thirty total days WITH rest days even if the 30 takes you almost 2 months....you need a rest day after 3 in a row.

If you've got back ache, I'd say that you should do some other exercise. Backs are important and should be cared for. I'm not suggesting just sitting around doing nothing, just try a different type of exercise.

You will hurt if you've worked out hard enough! It's a good hurt called DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) and is when muscles have been worked slightly beyond their capability and have tiny micro tears and so hurt a bit. These repair within a day or two and make your muscles stronger and in some cases bigger! This is normal and is what is meant to happen during training! It's achey and sore and sometimes a little uncomfortable - but it will go. I get it after some weights sessions and vigorous calisthenics. Or even after very long fast runs on new terrain.
