top heart rate for my age

The top rate for my age (47) is 161 bpm. As I get leaner, fitter, and lose weight, does that rate raise? Or is it the top rate no matter what? I just thought as my muscles get stronger , the heart being one, my top rate would raise.

I am 54, just ran a 5K this morning & my max heart rate was 179. Everyone is different. The 220 - age is just an average.0

220-age may be the average, but I always go over when I'm working out. I'm not dead yet!0

220- age is only 159. Got the 161 from a chart at the gym. I feel I can go to that without breathing hard. I want to push harder..lol0

I just googled it, it says 226-age for women, not that it's that big of difference, but that's what it says..0
