Need to find my exercise MOJO

Once I actually get moving I feel so great. Not sure why it's so hard for me to find my mojo this time around. I really want to do the C25K program and I am the only one standing in the way. WTH is wrong with me. I read all the inspirational stories and know that I am never going to get where I want to sitting on the couch reading other people's stories. The biggest component seems to be the exercise one. I know this - now I just need to get my head and heart to tell my legs to get off the damn couch. I have no excuses at all - in my house I have an elliptical, treadmill, bowflex, heavy bag, speed bag, Wii Active, Wii Fit, Wii Zumba, ab roller, free weights, bench, sneakers, exercise ball, yoga mat, etc, etc, etc...funny thing - having these things does not in and of itself lead to burning calories similar to how paying $39.95 a month for WW did not lead to weight loss.

No one in the world hates exercise more than me I think. At least when I started. For me, it HAD to become part of my routine, no if's and's or but's. I took it one day a time, and counted every effort I made as a success. Now, I don't feel right when I skip a day, and I kind of look forward to it. You will get there. No worries :)
  • Thanks! No ands ifs or buts it is!

I am in the same boat. I have all the equipment I need right in my house. But the motivation to get dressed and get to it just isn't there. Even after going strong for four months.

Maybe we can help each other? Feel free to add me if you want! :) YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! AND SO CAN I!!!!

mine has gone too. :( I did so well getting up and out of a morning. It might take 21 days to form a habit, but it only took one to lose it for me.

I loathe exercise! For me, it was a shift in perspective. Exercise became a time for me to do something for me, something that would balance out my busy, stressful work day. I also wanted a stress reliever and knew exercise was a good one. Another thing that has helped me was finding a good exercise buddy. We have made it a priority in our lives to leave work at a decent time several times a week to exercise. We plan these days and we make no excuses. We always feel great after we workout, even when we feel like we want to quit, we push through. This site, and the Nike+ app has helped tremendously, too.

Good luck! You can do it!

    Mojo Who?
o.k. you gotta hear it to appreciate it.

Funny thing about Mojo...you don't really need to find it, reallly.

The trick is that as soon as I get out of bed I get my workout gear/clothes on, turn on Music Choice (HD channels), get my coffee fix while I check in here and get moving.

Just a simple routine...no need to muster up anything. Don't over think it.

I've kind of found mine, actually, and it's probably the thing that shocks me most about this journey. I love my couch and I think naps should be mandatory. So, the fact that I look forward to exercising is weird, but here's how I think I managed it. Much like a previous poster said, it was a shift in perspective.

Part of what helped, I think, was giving myself a treat after my workout. My old gym had a sauna, hot tub and pool and my new gym has a massage chair. So, I get in my exercise then go bliss out. You're exercising at home, so is there something you can reward yourself with afterwards? Like, an awesome bubble bath? Commit to exercising X number of times, then book a massage? Three Zumbas equals a trip to Bath and Body Works for something that smells yummy?

Okay, maybe it's not so much a shift in perspective as it is a bribe but, hey .. whatever works. And this works for me.

I could use some of that myself! Haven't been putting much effort in it recently.
