My toes fall asleep in the elliptical after about 30 mins, I get off, walk around the gym a couple of times till the feeling comes back and finish my other 30 mins, does that happen to anyone else, or is this something I should talk to my doc about?

That may be a "metatarsalgia" . That means that you probably have a nerve pinched beetween your metatarsal head bones in your feet, normally caused by a collapse of the frontfoot arch. If the nerve is pinched or irritated , your toes get numb. You should see a foot orthothist that may provide you with a metatarsal pad that may be custom made or not. Be sure to wear running shoes with a thick and smooth sole that gives you a lot of cushion under your frontfoot.

It happens to me all the time. Sometimes it starts after about 5 minutes on the treadmill. I guess now maybe I should be concerned about it!
  • My toes do that too..every time and only on the elliptical....it drives me crazy!

Maybe you should start with that sara_rojo. Go in a place like runner's room, and get a nice pair of running shoes. Wide enough! If they are too narrow on the front foot, it will compress the frontfoot and toes and you won't feel better. Be sure about the fitting...lenght and width. New Balance makes wide shoes (if you need that). Get mesured.

I've never had a prob with having to buy wide, but maybe the cut of the shoe maybe off

A good trick to know if the shoe is wide enough...take out the insole off you shoe , then put in on the floor and put your foot on it. Your foot should'nt be wider then the sole. It should be the same width (at the ball of the foot ) and you need about 1/2inches between the end of your longuer to end the end of the sole.

I've had this happen too. My trainer told me it is quite common and normal, nothing to worry about ... Now you guys are making me wonder if I should be looking into it ...
