IF I WORKOUT PAST MIDNIGHT, WHEN DOES THE EXERCISE CALORIES COUNT? THE DAY PRIOR TO MIDNIGHT OR THE DAY OF? JUST CURIOUS TO SEE WHEN I SHOULD EAT THOSE CALORIES (OBVIOUSLY NOT AT 1AM LOL)

Why not at 1 am? There are no rules as to when you are allowed to eat.
My philosophy on the matter is, my day doesn't start until I wake up and it doesn't end until I go to bed. So my "24 hour period" is during those times. So, in this situation I'd eat the exercise calories on the "same day" as I exercised. I would log it on that day too. I don't really worry about the 24 hour days on here.0 -
if youre about to sleep and not staying up count as yesterday. Day starts when awake again in my mind.0

Yep I agree - the day ends when you go to bed and starts when you get up - ready to face the world and do it all again0

I work 7pm til 7am. I log everything from breakfast time til breakfast time. I eat breakfast when I get off work and eat dinner when I get up in the afternoon. I workout before work and when I get off work.
Hope you find your groove.0 -
I would also count the exercise calories to the day before even if it happends after midnight.
BUT I wouldn't force myself to eat them all before going asleep if not feel like. I would use left over calories next day(s).
In the matter of fact I have done tables to Excel of my daily
1) Food calories (all eaten calories),
2) Exercise calories and
3) Food - Exercise = Total basic calories
I try to keep average of Total basic calories same as MFP has recommended in weekly and monthly basis. I have huge difficulties to eat exactly the same amount of calories every day than is recommended so better keep track about "the big picture" so in long run I definetely eat ALL possible calories but no more.
Does anyone have any scientific knowledge or experience if this is ok way to balance calories weekly/monthly?0 -

Exactly what i thought when i read that 1am part! Timing of meals is irrelevant. You could, in theory, eat all your daily calories right before bed, and as long as you create that calorie deficit it's all good.0 -

As far as I know, it's not good to eat right before bed time. I always heard not to eat 2hrs before sleep cause it can mess with your sleep, like waking up more often and your body doesn't get rest cause it's working all night to digest your food. Anyways, that's what I "heard" don't have much to back it up. But I wouldn't eat 500cals before bed if i burned that. That's just me.
I always counted it as the day prior. I will continue doing so. Just wanted to see what others thought about it!0 -
I'm just letting the tracker put it wherever it wants. I have weird sleep hours anyway. I am going to make an effort to get my exercise in before midnight tonight, though, just because I ate like such a pig, and I really don't want to look at that red number!0
