is it true that it gets a lot harder to lose weight as you get thinner? when will i know if i already got to that point? i'm 5'2 and according to MFP, my BMI is: 26.1 Target weight range: 101.2 - 136.7 lbs.... Currently I weigh 142.7 and i'm still losing at least a pound a week....

For most people, yes. But you might not slow down too much. Typically the slowdown happens when you get into the "healthy" range. Just keep going and don't worry about it. If you slow down, you'll know why, and if you don't, you'll reach your goals that much faster.

I'm still losing about the same % every week (shooting for 1% of total body weight per week), but I'm still obese. After I get to an Overweight BMI, I'm going to gradually increase my calories, so I'll slow my loss as I move to a healthy weight.

It's certainly true for me... I'm 5'7" and 140.8 lb right now (started at 167.3 back at the end of May); I have lost 1.4 lb over the past 7 weeks without falling off the wagon at all. I'm currently trying to increase my calorie intake to see if that's the issue, but it sure has been frustrating when all I want to do is get these last 10 or so pounds off!

Technically it's not suppose to get "harder", that's what my CPT instructor told me in class. But it's very easy to plateau if you're not adjusting for the new body weight. So he says...

But i suppose it can be more difficult depending on what your goals are. Like if you're shooting for extremely low body fat, then you have to be really diligent in your food choices. Stuff like that.

It's definitely been the case for me. I've been losing these last 5lbs for the past month now. Your body doesn't have much fat to pull from and burn off anymore; plus, it REALLY likes to hold on to some fat just in case you decide you suddenly decide you want to go into hibernation...

In my case that has been true. I am 5'3 started at 136, I lost 15 pounds in 6 weeks then didn't lose for 5 weeks! I'm losing again and I'm at 118 right now but I hard to work harder and harder to lose as I'm only 8 pounds from my goal. Also, unless you are strength training (which I suggest) your BMR lowers as you lose weight. It takes less and less calorie expenditure to haul all that extra weight around.
