Toning tummy without weight loss?

ok.. now I have a new problem!

Since dropping carbs I have dropped weight really fast. Now i have Ataxia and Dystonia together. Dystonia causes the most muscle contractions and involuntary movements so contacted them asking if they might know why I'm suddenly dropping the weight when I didn't before.

Their reply was basically :

"16 lbs in just over 2 months is quite alot! It's possible the additional water weight from all the carbs you previously ate was keeping your weight stable and giving your body the energy it needed to cope with the high burn from the additional involuntary movements all day, without having to dip into your 'fat stores'.. so consequently your weight wasn't changing much.

Now you have dropped your carbs by quite a large amount your body is having to get energy from your fat stores as you are no longer providing it with a constant supply of energy (bread, potatoes, rice etc everyday) This maybe the reason why you have suddenly dropped so much and indicates that you are in fact burning much more than online sources have predicted for your height and weight.

With your stats one would expect a person to have an hourly burn rate of 50/60 calories per hour, I would guess yours is over 100 easily even at 'mild' if you multiply the energy burned with mild movements for an average 16-18 hours you are awake, you may easily burn between 500-1,000 BEFORE you have added any additional exercise!

I have known people with alot of involuntary movement who have the metabolisms of professional athlete's. I would suggest spending a week or so adding back carbs until you work out how much you need to keep your weight stable... then create a smaller deficit to reach your goal weight. I would also reduce the amount of additional exercise you do or consider medication such as muscle relaxant to greatly reduce the involuntary movement and the amount of energy your body needs just to get through the day"

So my question is.. my tummy still needs toning.. its not where I want it to be... any floor exercises I can do and tone tummy that will tone without burning a huge amount of calories in the process, if i restricted it to .. say no more than 15mins at once per day toning?

Thanks

Leigh

Try a technique called callanetics, google it :) it's very gentle and definitely works, I've tried it.
