Cardio without your feet?

Hi all. New poster here. I generally exist on a light amount of exercise - as in I walk to and from school every day (3 miles round trip).

However, I sprained my toe, and my physical therapist doesn't want me to put too much strain on my foot because of that. It's horrible timing for me since I decided to try supplementing my diet with a little more activity as well.

Does anyone have any tips for good fat burning workouts that involve no or minimal impact to your feet? (Just a further note - I can't really do much yoga either because I basically cannot put weight on the front half of my left foot. Balancing is almost impossible and extremely painful.)

Boxing. Even just shadow boxing sitting down can burn a good amount of calories if your punches are strong.

Stationary bike doesn't need a toe touch and Gymstick is great for strength training at home to build up some muscles. :-)

Stationary bike as you can adjust your footing so the heel is taking the impact.
Arm bike machine, if your gym has one.
One legged skipping. Works your core too. :)
    Shadow boxing/shadow speed bag.

Punching a bag (boxing), swimming if you have access to a pool, cycling, or rowing?

I agree with the shadowboxing and swimming, but am curious that your physical therapist didn't suggest exercises you could do? Perhaps at your next visit you could ask what would be the best and safest exercises you can do right now?

Well he suggested exercises, but they're based around exercises building back flexibility into my poor foot. So, they're more strength/balance things. I'll ask him advice on cardio as well. I have a wii fit, and I already love rhythm boxing, so I'll probably keep up with that. However, that is still a bit tricky for me sometimes when I have to dodge, etc.

And I don't know why in the world I didn't think about a stationary bike. We even have one in the gym in my basement. Silly me. =)

This is a terrible idea since you would need to purchase some properly-fitting hand-shoes, which are not yet available in your area.
