Weight gain on JM 30 Day Shred

I'm on Day 3 of the 30 Day shred and noticed I have gained 2lbs! I assume that this is just fluid retain, due to my sore muscles retaining water heal, but I am still not happy about it. I should also mention that I do take a diuretic for high blood pressure. My
leg muscles are pretty sore though. I have been using 2 five lb. weights.

I found this thread, which had some helpful advice: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/170556-question-about-30-day-shread-weight-gain?hl=weight+gain+new+workout#posts-2268267

But I would love to hear from other folks who have had this experience doing JM 30 day Shred...

Thanks in advance....

yes i do believe it is water retention in your muscles. don't worry. you've already lost so much. congratz. keep up the hard work.

I gained a minimal amount of weight when I did it for 20 days, but my body fat % went down & so did my measurements. My shoulders looked more muscular afterwards. In 3 days it probably is water retention, but do make sure you take other measurements & not just weight as gains are demoralizing. It's about a week and a half later & haven't done anything but have now lost that weight and am down below my starting weight.
  • Hello my friend. Don't be alarmed. This happened to me, but my weight settled back after about 1 week. Keep at it, you wont regret it! :flowerforyou:

Thanks, everyone for your comments. When I weighed in this am, one of the 2 lbs was gone. I will keep at it. Whoever said it is demoralizing to see weight gain is correct. After a year of weight loss, the idea of gaining is truly scary. So it is tempting to stick with something I know works. But I do like the challenge of 30 day shred. I think I may take it a little more slowly. At this point, I am really interested in decreasing my body fat, and I think this may be the way to do it.....
