I just picked up a home gym today (not the best quality, but good enough) and I am wondering how I should start using it. What I mean is, how many sets and reps should I do? and how many days per week? Should I start with a weight that is more difficult for me and do fewer sets/reps? Or go for a ligher weight? It is a pretty simple machine
but I am hoping I can use this in conjunction with other activities and it will save me from pay monthly to go to the gym.

There is an excellent book - the new rules of lifting - which is great to accompany a home gym. I purchased a new copy from book depositry for about $15 including postage!0

hope you really enjoy working on it, cause better things will come the more you enjoy it. if you order that book, while you are waiting, test the machine out with 8 to 10 reps of all the exercises you do on it, rest up and repeat. you get to enjoying what you have at home, and pretty soon you may add a little something extra. I have a bike, an old fashioned body rider, a tony little gazelle, a doorknob core exerciser, an ab crunch thing, twister boards, trampoline, ball, and goo gobs of DVDs. work it!!:bigsmile:0
