We recently installed an island in our kitchen. In fact, hubs just hung the lights for it yesterday. I am trying to figure out what to place on top of the island. I want it to look elegant and tasteful- not cluttered. What's on your islands?

I HATE clutter. If I had an island it would have a nice big bowl of fresh fruit on it at all times. That's about it. I really hate surfaces that are covered. I like clean lines :)

Right now, a jar of peanut butter! ;)

I prefer nothing on mine. But, I have seen some very pretty arrangements on islands in magazines.

If I had one it would have cats on it. Like all the other surfaces in my kitchen.

    Yeah, real cats :ohwell:

Usually just my laptop, much to my wifes chagrin...
  • My Girlfriend loves fresh flowers. Its brightens up the whole area (as it is open plan). Or especially in summer, her potted herbs, that are in three little white pots (from Ikea each with a different patter on the sides). They look very symetrical and add a touch of greenery. It also stops them from wilting in the heat on the window sill all day.
