I am 160cms (around 5'3) and currently 77kgs (around 160lbs). I am hoping to get to 60kgs, anyone have any idea what time frame I am looking at? I know every one is different but just a ballpark figure?

    Well that's about 28lbs, so if you optimize at 2lbs a week that's about 14 weeks, but with under 30-ish pounds to lose I'm going to guess more like 1lb-1.5 pounds a week. So don't panic if it goes slowly and it takes you up to 6 or even 7 months.

    I dropped the first 75lbs averaging about 1.3lbs a week but the last 15 are taking me a LONG time, I'm still losing inches though which is really more important than the weight.

    A good guide would be healthy weight loss is .5 to 1 kg per week or about 1-2 pounds per week. More than that is possible, but not as healthy or sustainable. Losing weight through lifestyle changes is slower, but it tends to stay off.

    the formula to work our your bmr is the following:
    BMR = 655 + ( 9.6 x weight in kilos ) + ( 1.8 x height in cm ) - ( 4.7 x age in years )

    so for you it is:
    655+739.2+288-82.25=1600

    77-60kg = 17kg

    There are 3500 calories in 1lb of fat
    There are 7700 calories in 1kg of fat

    Therefore you need to burn 130900 calories to get to 60kg (77kg x 7700calories = 130900)

    Based on a 1000 defict a day, it would take 130 days to get to 60kg, or 18 weeks.

    But this is a guide only.

    I was thinking 4-6 months. But it also depends on you dedication to logging accurately, exercise and healthy eating!!

    I look at it from the viewpoint that you could be losing between half a kilo and a kilo a week, if you do it safely. Some weeks you'll lose more, some weeks you'll lose less. If you do MFP's 2lb per week (that's a kilo basically) it'll take you roughly 17 weeks. Add in a couple of weeks for relapsing/losing motivation and you're looking at around 20 weeks.

    In saying that, last year I lost 14kgs in 12 weeks. It has taken another 12 months to lose the next 5kg as I put 7kg back on before I realised after going a bit silly, and now I'm back on track - losing between half a kilo and a kilo each week. It's frustratingly slow, but I'm not willing to compromise my future health to lose more rapidly. I also know that I won't stick to it for the 40kgs I have left if I go too gung-ho!!

    You will most likely notice that the first 10 pounds will come off rather quickly at the 1.5 to 2 pound per week loss. Then you will probably have to change your calories to more....not less. You will have to recalculate at a 1 pound a week loss...maybe lose 10 more at that rate....then you will probably plateau again and have to change to a .5 pound loss a week for your last pounds. Be patient with your last pounds, they are the hardest to lose.
    If you are exercising you will be able to help things along much better, and will come out at the end much better, as long as you eat enough. It's very important you do not try to lose quickly by cutting your calories too low (under 1200 cals is a big no no for most people). Because, if you eat too little, you will slow down your metabolism and could in fact start to gain weight.
    There is so much to learn about the proper way to lose. If you don't cut corners and read everything you can to learn as you go, you will be much more successful. There are some very knowledgeable and helpful people here on this message board. There are also a few other sites that offer daily articles by experts about things that are important to learn as you change your lifestyle to one of being more healthy.
    Feel free to message me if you have any questions or want some of those sites to check out.

    Shoot for 1-2lbs a week max!
    Anything more and you could starve to death!

    Thank goodness it's only a guide since 77x7700 does not equal 130,900.

    X_x

    I think you meant the 17kg (what she wants to burn).

    It took me about 7 months to lose around 20kg.
    I had a calorie deficit of about 250 - 400 cals/day for most of the time - I wasn't aiming to go fast, but to find something that was sustainable. I found I lost an average of about 0.7kg over this time, sometimes more and sometime less of course, but that's how it averaged out.

    Sorry that is wrong. You have the right idea but it's the wrong way around.

    1lb = .454kg or 454g
    1kg = 2.2lbs
    10kg = 22lbs
