so ive done some research on zig zaggin, i have yet to see anything bad about it, in fact ive read that it keeps your metabolism from gettin used to the same amount of calories everyday and there for not burning as much, and slowing down. so i want to lose about 30lbs, 13 for my mini goal of decmber 31 2011, i have my calories set to 1200 a day,(8400 calories a week) i dont want to raise them to 1400, so i know a few days are gonna be a lil lower than 1200, so this is what i have planned starting tomarrow

monday-1000
tuesday-1200
wedensday-1400
thursday-1000
friday-1200
saturday-1500
sunday-1100

=8400

how does this look? is there anyone else that has tried this? has it worked?

you should never eat below 1200 calories, ESPECIALLY if you're exercising. i would reevaluate that.

Ok, only giving you advice from personal experience. You might not want to drop below 1200 ..it isn't good for you. Also, look at it this way. Go to this calculator. http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm
Plug in your weight and height and exercise level as you are today.
Write down what you get from the FAT LOSS total (do the 7 day zig zag too it is helpful)
Then go back to it and do it with your goal weight in the box.

    See the difference?
    Why do this?
It lets you know what you will be able to eat when your at your goal weight.
Try eating at that level using the 7 day zig zag now. It not only will help you lose steadily but it will help you maintain once your there.
    But even if none of this makes sense to you..don't go under 1200...at least do 1400, 1200, 1500, 1200, 1300, 1200, 1500
    average 1328.
Not sure of your stats. height , weight, exercise but ...this is a pretty good number for most people wanting to lose 30 lbs.

    good luck,.

I was zig zagging without knowing it ....lost quite a lot then read up on it and am very close to goal 5 to 6 lbs..and I love knowing that I can have higher days. It breaks up the monotony.
  • I have zig zagged a bit during the process of losing weight. I was able to lose weight by doing this. However, I didn't go under 1200 calories; Somedays 1200 and other days 1400-1500. Everybody is different, so am not going to say eating under 1200 will hurt you or not.

Go to free dieting.com and do the "Fat Loss" Not the Extreme Fat Loss.

You should not be eating below 1200....at all.

I'm assuming that's where you may of got your daily calorie amounts from?

Great job on having an open mind. Remember your not in a race. Losing weight at a steady pace is better than really fast..for lots of reasons. First of all. If you take your time you "learn" the new habits. Your body will have time to adjust to the new weight and not leave you with too much flab LOL. We didn't gain it over night or probably not even in the time frame your allowing your self to lose it. One thing you could try is do what I mentioned above for 7 days. Then re-evaluate. I think you'll be surprised that your body actually will function better and you'll feel better with a calorie goal no lower than 1200, I actually speak from experience, I got really weak a while back and realized my calories some days were below 1000. It wasn't pretty. I didn't lose any more weight than I am losing now. I'd rather eat LOL. Eat and lose..starve and lose? I say eat and lose, Good luck. add me if you want support or have questions.

The one I gave you is geared towards women. A lot of the other ones you'll see are for "cutting" for body builders. They are extreme ones and aren't really smart for women. Go with the fat loss..not extreme. I wish you'd give it 14 days. It gives you a better picture. Also, you MUST plan with this. I log my calories most of the time for the whole day BEFORE I eat because I know then what I have and where I can have snacks or not.
I have re created so many High calorie favorites (I hate diet food) into my new lower healthier versions so I never feel deprived. I also use my higher calorie days for the things I never thought I could have dieting LOL. I ate popcorn today ..at the movies. I just budgeted it into my calories. Give it a try. :)

Looks good! Yes I think on my high days..wow! then I go ..I can have this or that! Moderation is the key. I measure, I weight. I use the menu's at restaurants (nutrition counts) It isn't a guessing game. You do have to be completely honest on your portion sizes and everything you eat.

Well we are in this together! Glad you added me! Good luck. Just make a promise to yourself. To log every single thing, To give it 14 days. To drink plenty of fluids. Take your measurements. I've lost only 5 lbs this past month but I went down a whole size. My 9's are lose!!!!!
