So, have you ever had a random event really throw you? Send you into an emotional, chocolate-craving tizzy? Here's mine: I'm in Target, shopping for Valentine's stuff. Narrow aisle. I'm pushing my cart about 5 feet from the end; another shopper with cart browsing facing me on other side of aisle. No prob, can get by. A very pregnant woman comes around corner in front of me, crouches down to look at item. I paused to give her a moment. I don't say anything at first. I think I'm being polite. She continues her crouched browsing. I say, "Excuse me." Politely, so I thought. She looks at me and says, "Back up." I think she wants a little space to edge around other shopper. No. She says, "Go the other way." The way I've come from! I told her I wanted to go around her. As she sighs loudly and gets out of my way, she comments on me "just looking at her". I said I was trying to be polite.

So, I'm sure most of you think I'm being ridiculous, but this made me feel like there is something wrong with me, like being embarrassed in front of the class in high school.:frown: :embarassed:  :grumble: :noway:

Thanks for the vent. I feel better having gotten it out. And, BTW, I did avoid buying the bag of chocolate, that I knew I would eat in my frustration. I bought non-chocolate candy that I don't like for the kids' classes.:flowerforyou:

You were more accommodating that I would have been. I usually laugh at them hysterically - really cheeses them off!

Holy canolli, she was incredibly rude. Maybe she was having a super crummy day. (I'm giving her way too much benefit of the doubt, eh?!)

At any rate, this was definitely not your problem! She was the turd.

Hey, GREAT job not letting it get to you! (Was her butt as big as her belly? <snicker snort>)

You did the right thing by the way.....

Never - EVER let some random person, who will not even show up at your funeral, dictate your behaviors or responses. Just be grateful that, even on your worst day, you will NEVER be THAT!

    :smokin: stay cool.

    Excellent coping! Excellent insight.

Maybe she just had a big fight with her significant other:laugh:

I try (sometimes unsuccessfully) to remember that other people's bad moods are NOT my fault or my responsibility. Especially strangers.

I hate people who think they own the world. Or who think everybody owes them something. Or think they are better than any body else. I wish they had their own stores so they wouldn't have to be bothered by us common folk.

By the way I thought you handled it very well. I would have told her that she didn't need to be such a B.

It was her problem! You handled it in a much more mature way then I would have, I'd called her a crabby B*t*ch!

Thank you all for your comments! It has made me feel better. Don't know why it hit me like this today. I will say that when I wanted to eat all of the chocolate in the aisle, I thought of MFP!
  • Gross! I'm shocked someone would act that way in public! Last time I checked people weren't able to buy Target aisles and claim them as their own!

Way to be the better person, she OBVIOUSLY needed the chocolate more than you did! Hopefully it will cure her crankiness! :flowerforyou:

wow - i had a similar experience at target. the lady wasnt prego but MAN she was RUDE! i named her Rudy.

i actually wanted to kick her a** at the time. i know exactly how you feel. after the 'moment' happens, you look around and expect there to be some sort of audience. i just kept shaking my head thinking 'did that just happen?'...over and over.

kudos for not indulging in temptations! i wonder if those sort of things ever happen in the celery isle...
