Optifast vs. others like Nutrisystem

Has anyone had experiences with programs like Optifast or Nutrisystem?

I have access through my job to both and I'm leaning towards Optifast, b/c it's medically sanctioned and the program is done through the hospitall and is proven to work.

Only know Nutrisystem through TV. Stil doing research on both, but wanted some opinions.

Please! :)

i havnt done either but my mum does optifast.........she really likes it but has it with cold water and ice because she thinks its tastes better haha....i have tried it but all those drink things dont work for me i just dont like them

but optifast is really good as it has the hospital and scientific evidence behind it

im always weary about things advertised on tv coz you dont know if the people talking about it are being paid or not.......

i recommened trying both maybe and seeing which one works for you =]
  • I did optifast for 2 months and lost 15kgs. Haven't gained the weight back either but that's not rocket science.

It's not the easiest diet to stick to and going through Ketosis sucks. Third day I had a killer headache and was so cranky but after that you go up-hill. I felt great and the weight fell off. Helped that I was exercising too :)

In saying that, I was in love with the coffee flavour shakes (with VERY cold water- they're gross otherwise) but they're a bit over 200 cals and you can have meals with less than that if you want.

I think it's more sustainable and easy to manage in a normal life if you just use MFP and stick to your calorie goals. That way you can plan for eating out etc. Eating out on Optifast included a plate of steamed vegies but not peas, corn, potatoes or sweet potato!! Not much fun!

PS. I should mention that a doctor asked me what I had done to lose the weight and when I told him Optifast he was pleased- no negative reaction to speak of.
