HRM Readings

So... just got my Polar HRM and I'm loving it, however when I went on my hike today sometimes the monitor spiked REALLY high - like 190's - even hit 200 once. While I was a bit winded, did not feel like I was struggling and could still talk. Does anyone else's spike this high? Or could the Monitor have been giving me false readings?

    Did you wet the strips?

It's possible, sometimes mine spikes up to 240! And I KNOW my heart rate isn't that high, sometimes I haven't even started working out yet.

I don't trust mine all that much. I underestimate calorie burns and overestimate calories in.

If you don't wet it you might get wrong readings also, if it's not adjusted right if mine is too loose it will be at like 120 while i've been running for 30 min then go all the way up to 190, so maybe check your strap adjustment.

I did wet it, but maybe it was the way the belt was positioned - I'll try it again next time with the belt repositioned ~
