Yesterday as I'd only seemed to have put 1 lb on when TOTM started and had lost 3lbs at weigh-in I had cheese toasties so 4 slices of regular bread that was left in my freezer.

Today I'm 5lbs heavier! ... I know it could be from TOTM too but I had only gained 1 lb before they actually started so thought that was all I was going to gain, so not sure how much of that 5 lb is from eating bread and how much from TOTM but as this now puts me to back over 11st I instantly felt 'fat' and panicked.. I've had to keep telling myself all way round field with dog that its just water and I can take some water tablets as soon as I get home and drink loads of water all day.

I'm meant to be trying new clothes on tomorrow at shopping but I don't think I'll get in 14's with bloat.. I think 16's will be a struggle I put my size 20 jog pants back on today as I think they reflect how I feel. .. I KNOW its illogical and I KNOW its only water but I have real battle with my emotions since I started losing weight. 12st used to be my danger weight that caused instant panic if I went back over it... now its 11st after I dropped to 10st 11.

When does the little voice in your head disappear as soon as you put on water? cos today its telling me I can't eat cos ate too much at weekend and I have to get rid of the water instantly to prove it is just water and not fat. .. I also know all I have to do is drop carbs so my body is forced to used fat for energy as I recently found I burn so much from my condition, so part of me knows I can get rid of this weight by the end of the week easily but the other part won't stop telling me TODAY YOU ARE FAT!

Uh, maybe like .00001 is from the bread and the rest is from TOM. If you put it on overnight and then it goes as fast as it came on, it's water weight.

Why are you taking water tablets? They are not good for you and can seriously make you sick if your not careful with them... drinking water only would be the safer route to go.

Also you don't need to drop carbs so that your body is forced to use fat for energy. Carbs themselves don't make you fat. You can't make your body do anything for energy really.. it's going to do what it wants, when it wants.

As far as shopping goes, go and enjoy.. you may surprise yourself. It's absolutely silly that you would stay home just because you don't think your going to fit into a pair of pants. Size means nothing.. it's how you look and feel in the clothes that count.

oh.. I wasn't going to stay at home.. I'm going for xmas shopping too anyway, but was hoping to go try some Levi's on, it was my goal for losing weight as I've been in the Evans jeans with elasticated waist for years, so was looking forward to treating my self to a pair of Levi's with a regular waistband and been able to get in them!

I've got down to 32" waist but wanted to try on 30" Levi's to see how far off getting in them I was.. of course if I'm bloated its a lot less likely! I might still get some anyway if can get them for a reasonable price and try them on every so often to see how much my tummy is toning up. I've been doing that with an old pair of suit pants which are Dorothy Perkins size 16 but from years ago, (more like today's 18's) so they are now baggy on me, so need a new pair of 'goal pants' to keep me motivated to get the rest off!

As far as energy is concerned.. our bodies take energy from foods and carbs (particularity processed white carbs) convert faster and use less calories in that process than other foods. .. (that's what I was told) and also why some people exercise first thing on empty stomach so body has to use fat stores for energy for your workout rather than from what you've just eaten (if you have a meal first).

Carbs make me heavier cos of the water I retain after eating them, I've been low carb/gluten free since end of august and dropped 25lbs total.

Water tablets just help the water come off faster, there's nothing on the bottle that says they are dangerous? My body is slow to release water after my monthlies otherwise, this way it's usually off the day after they finish and I can carry on with the diet and exercise from the weight I was before TOTM.

There are two types of carbs.. Processed and Complex. Processed carbs may make you heavier due to water, but it's just that.. water. It will come off. Complex carbs though(like whole grains, veggies, fruit) are going to keep you fuller longer, and won't have that much water weight associated with it.

As far as exercising on an empty stomach:

For the most part the jury is still split... and it's very individual process. I personally can't not eat before I workout.. I get sick, dizzy and shaky.

    As far as diuretics:

I highly urge you to lay off the water pills... and just drink water. It's going to do the same thing, but it may take like an extra day or two.

with regard to water retention, when I used to eat carbs i put on 3-5lbs a day and about 6-10lbs a week before monthlies started and it would take about a week to come off.

Last month I'd had no bread etc before monthlies started and I only gained 3 lb again only just before they started and it dropped off day after.

this month only 1 lb extra was on before they started.. then i had the toasties and next day was 5 lb heavier which is why I was wondering if it was that as I haven't had regular bread since august?

I have noticed my daily fluctuations are only 1 lb since I dropped processed carbs and my tummy is alot flatter. I only have carbs that are in fruit and veg (or meat and fish? )

Though I'm off xmas shopping today and there's mainly only junk food available in the cafe, I buy my friend dinner as she pays for the petrol and carries all my shopping, so where we end up depends on what she fancies for lunch! Its usually KFC, McDonalds or the fish and chip place but I'm not so worried as I'll be burning a huge amount of calories pushing myself around for about 4 hours. I'm quite confident this year I'll have the energy to get around the shopping centre as I'm much fitter, last year was a real struggle.
