foot pain

hello all i got a dr app booked but in the mean time im after some advice i started jogging just over a week ago and i noticed i got a pain in my left foot at the top afterwards which has progressively got worse i went to london friday walked all day walked all day saturday didnt walk or jog yesterday but did aerobic workout with some pain but this morning doing touch squats my foot was killing but i noticed the pain travelled all up my leg into my thigh ive had a warm bath and im resting now and my foot is hurting a slight throb ive put my ankle support on any advice what it could be how to help myself before i see the dr?

    My dad is a doctor and he always told me:
    R.I.C.E

    Rest
    Ice
    Compression
    Elevation

    This is for all kinds of sprains, twists, or pains in your joints.

    The compression isn't really as important. Basically put an ice pack on it and put some pillows below your foot, both of these will decrease blood flow and swelling of the area.
