Very Disappointed in Myself Today :(

This isn't diet related or anything.
This is academically related.
I applied to a program at VCU back in October. I wanted to use it as my internship and it looked SO COOL. You live on campus, work full time in a lab in the Physiology dept., design your own experiment and interact with other students and the faculty there.
Today I received a rejection letter.
I know it's because I don't have enough experience in a laboratory and I don't have enough Chemistry/Biochem/O-chem classes. I have plenty of Biology and Physiology experience but that's not holistic enough. I am really disappointed. I feel like a big failure. I had it all planned out--get into the program, get to know the faculty, get into VCU and do the extra undergrad classes while getting my Master's. Now I have to find an internship in another lab, but I have few options since I have to stay close to either my apartment or parents' house.
I'm also really sick of my university. It's a liberal arts college, which is why I have pretty much no chemistry or higher math experience. And the guy who is supposed to help with my internship is sort of clueless about it because 99.99999% of people in my major just work at a gym. I don't want to hand out towels, dammit! :explode:

it isn't your fault that you dont have the experience they are looking for...that is something you can fix..it isnt like they interviewed you and said no thanks....if it takes a different approach so be it...you can do whatever you want to do...you have alot of knowledge and share it well....one step at a time...hang in there

I know...I'm just frustrated. I WANT to get experience, but if you're not a Chem/Bio major it's so hard to get into a lab. I want to say 'not fair', but compared to what? Life isn't a board game! I already e-mailed some professors and looked into a couple other labs. I just really wanted that because I think VCU looks great.0

You might OWN a gym.......but you cant work in one. I forbid it!!
There is something else out there that is calling your name. You will hear it, I promise.
You are one smart cookie, there has to be the right place for you!!

I know it's hard when you don't get what you want. Keep trying and don't give up. If you can't get the classes that you need maybe it's time to look into going somewhere else. If you can't get the chem classes that you need could you take them online?0
