While I was out with the BF this weekend ..

... someone approached him and asked, ver batim, "Why is a guy like you with a girl like her? You're so physically fit and she's, well, not."

His reply? "First of all, its none of your damn business, but I'll tell you one good reason why: she's got a heart of gold. Now stop being so superficial, you're setting yourself up for a lifetime of lonliness." Then he grabbed my hand and we walked away.

I have to admit, I was happy with his response. But I couldn't help but feel crushed. I'd never thought about it like that before. He's physically fit, I'm working on fat to fit. I'm just thankful that he's by my side through this journey, rooting for me and pushing me and standing up for me. He's a keeper. :)

I must say, that guy sure was the driving force behind my workout this morning, and I definitely killed it. And I might have just pictured his face on the kickboxing bag during my circuits. *giggle*

    WOW.... these boards are full of all sorts of stories of people who have run ins with obnoxious people... SO sorry that happened...but AWESOME your man put them in thier place! He obviously loves you for ALL you are...and supports your goals! So many rude, rude people out there...it amazes me the total lack of manners and respect... insane...

    I think you should give yourself big kudos for that heart of gold and for finding a BF like that. Real love doesn't depend on looks. And only real love can last a lifetime. Congrats to you for finding it.

    My BF first hit on me before I lost any weight, but we didn't get together until I had lost 30 lbs. I'm so glad he hit on me before because I know that he really liked me, not my new and improved skinny body.

    You will get into shape and be healthy for you and be an utter babe because your outsides can reflect the beauty you have on the inside and I'm happy for you that you will be doing it not so you can feel worthy of love or to match your BF, but because you want to be healthy for yourself. That's wonderful....

    and the dude who said that to you guys is the truly ugly one.

    What a total git! These kind of things do stay with you though! I remember when I was 15 some bloke saying to my BF of the time that he needed to get a better looking GF! I was skinny then too!! But I was wearing joggers and a big jumper!! I'm glad you were able to turn that negative comment into a possitive workout! Well done you! And what a nice man your OH seems to be!!

    LOL - that's a great response! That guy was a loser and probably doesn't have anyone in his life. Be thankful that your boyfriend is such a sweetie. It's great to have that support!
