What is my scale saying?!?!

So I got a new scale..............and well I was just wondering if anyone could enlighten me to what it is actually saying and what all the readouts mean.

Here are my stats:
31
5'9
176.6 lb
my scale says that it takes 2468/day to maintain my weight, and MFP is telling me it takes 1500 and a little bit, I do realize that MFP doesn't take into account height and all of that
So with my preference settings on MFP my caloric intake for the day is around 1200, is that putting to much of a deficit?
My Body fat is currently at 29%
My body water reading is 49.8%
Muscle mass is 31.1%
and bone mass is 4.3%

Just looking for some help with these numbers?

    Is that 1500+ WITH or WITHOUT your 2lb deficit? If it's WITH the deficit, then you're fine. 2lb deficit is 7000 calories/week or 1000/day. 2468 - 1000 = 1468.... If it's WITHOUT a 2lb deficit, i dont know what to tell ya!

    The 1500 from mfp is including your deficit... I would keep it there, dripping down to 1200 may slow your progress...

    First, your basal metabolic rate is partly a function of your activity level. Does your scale allow you to choose an activity level? If not, that may explain part of the difference. From your stats, it looks as though that is the calorie calculation for a moderately active person. I usually choose sedentary when determining a basal metabolic rate, even though I am no longer sedentary.

    What is your weekly weight loss goal setting on MFP? The program has a calorie deficit built in. So if the net calorie target is 1,200, your actual basal metabolic rate is probably 300-500 higher than that.

    My weekly goal setting is 2 lbs I know thats not recommended. The 1500 from MFP is what they are saying to my body needs to maintain my current weight, with the goal setting of 2 lbs its recommended that I consume 1200. With working out of course I do get to consume more calories.
    My scale does not have any settings other than I can change it from normal to athlete
    I do want to get down to 130 lbs but not lose alot of muscle mass in the process, will keeping my calories around 1200 cause that, or does it matter because I am lifting weights and are consuming more calories on those days?

    MFP says someone with your stats would have a BMR of 1,594 calories/day... that's NOT your maintenance calories.

    BMR is the number of calories it would to maintain your weight if you were completely bedridden, ie, in a comma. That's keeping your heart beating, lungs breathing, kidneys filtering, pancreas... uh... pancreasing, etc. :wink: As soon as you get out of bed, you start burning more than that.

    It's confusing when you're just starting out. :smile: If you go to your "goals" page ( http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/my_goals ) on the right hand side, under "Your Diet Profile," it will give an estimate on what your actual maintenance calories are. Your maintenance is your BMR multiplied by a number based on your activity level... but not including calories burned from exercise.
