So nearly everyday I take my dog on a walk up a hilly route which burns between 200 - 300 cals, well this weekend I decided to put on enough weight to take me back to my weight at xmas last year and walk round to compare so this is what i wore :
Jeans,
Tshirt,
jumper,
harness,
9 week old baby,
shoes
socks,
a huge mans winter coat in xxl ( this was 14 lbs at least in itself )
the dogs leads in it

I felt like i was dying !!!!! how i used to do that i have no idea !

Wow! Good way to view it though!! I see my loss as 10, 6lb newborns!! That's a lot of babies....a lot of weight....and I don't know how I did either! Good for you...nice way to really FEEL the progress you've made! :)

THAT is a wonderful idea. I am going to carry the amount I've lost to realize what I've done. What a great perception check that is. Thanks for posting this.

How motivating is THAT?? Absolutely AWESOME!!
  • It really helps put the weight loss into perspective doesn't it?

In my twenties I lost 70 pounds. I went on a three day backpacking trip with some friends and weighed my pack before we left - 70 pounds of gear, water and food! I hiked the whole first day with that on my back and when I took it off, I felt like I could fly! The weight loss really hit me and I will never forget how it felt to run without that pack on.

Fast forward twenty years - kids, hectic professional life, volunteer work, house work (ugh!) and those 70 pounds came back.

I started MFP and working with a trainer 6 weeks ago, have lost 10 pounds and am super motivated to get back to feeling the way I did then. 58 to go! Here's to all the over-40 moms who are getting their pre-kid lives back!
