When do you work out during the day?

Ok, so here's the story. I have a very irregular sleeping schedule where I go to sleep at 5-6am and wake up by 1-2pm. I work from 3:30pm-9:30pm or so depending on the scheduling. As a recent college graduate, I have been working as a tutor and helping college students in writing papers. Studying at night as a college student messed up my sleeping schedule and I haven't been able to fix it for years!
My question to all of you is how to go about this situation? I am taunted by everyone that I need to change my sleeping schedule because it isn't normal. My friends and my family simply gave up on me because I am being stubborn and refusing their statements. They are not being supportive or motivating in any way. I am still going with my weight loss and have around 8 pounds left to reach my goal (they are the hardest!!!). I have been working out on and off, switched to a healthier diet and stopped eating at night. People keep on saying that it isn't healthy eating after 6pm, which is about 5-6 hours before "normal" people go to bed.
As of this post (3:55am) I am listening to Electro House music and feel very motivated to work out. It is crazy, I know! Do you guys have any suggestions on how to deal with this issue? Any support or motivation is highly appreciated!
Here's an awesome Electro House song for ya to boost your workout as a thanks to response in here!

i work for ConEdison (OP should know who that is) and i have a very weird work schedule. i'll work three or 12 hour days in a row and then have a few days off, and then work a few night shifts. so as someone who has a weird sleep patern, i highly recommend adjusting to a normal sleep schedule. but if you can't right now, you will when you start that 9-5 job.
personally, i like morning work outs the best. on my days off i like to hit the gym around 8:30-9am. its pretty empty around that time, and i'm able to lift without anyone bothering me.0 -
Your friends have no idea what they're talking about, tell them to stuff their mockery where it don't shine. Or I guess you could put it more politely so they'll stay your friends:

Sleep cycles aren't the same for everyone and our current 'norm' isn't. Or if it is, it's certainly not the only way to sleep.
During some times of the year (this one especially) I become much more of a night owl and given a choice, I sleep when I want, wake up when I want, and go back to sleep when I want. That can be for any length of time and any time of day. They're probably just jealous because your schedule works for you. Especially if you're also lucky enough not to be jarred awake by the horrible, unnatural clanging of an alarm every day!0 -
Engineman, so you have an idea of having a weird schedule with hours in and out. You still manage to hit the gym in the AM so you don't slack off by sleeping longer when you have no work right? Slacking off is my biggest problem. Sleeping late just because I can, not want. Once I go to sleep late, of course I'd want to sleep a little longer too. Eh.0

here... read this: http://nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/08/31/is-it-really-worth-it/Is it really worth it?
It will require commitment and dedication.
It will require you to say “no” sometimes.
It will require sacrifice.
It won’t be quick.
It won’t be easy.
It won’t be fun all of the time
Your friends will laugh at you for doing things differently.
Your coworkers will gawk and poke fun at your new eating habits.
Your loved ones will call you crazy and ask you to “be normal.”
You will have to change some habits.
You will want to give up.
You will want to go back to bed.
You will want to say “eh, good enough.”
And you will ask yourself: is it really worth it?
You’re damn right is is.
You will feel great when you set a new record for push ups.
You will let out a rebel yell when doing your first pull up.
You will feel awesome running faster this week than last week.
You will be amazed at how far you’ve come when looking at old pictures.
You will feel good when people ask “have you been working out?”
You will smile when your kids say “I want to be strong like you!”
You will be surprised when people come to you for fitness advice.
You will feel pride when you look at yourself in the mirror.
You will go to sleep knowing that you’re a better person today than you were yesterday.
It is worth it.0 -
Hehehe, thanks to my fellow New Yorker! You realize that Rockaway Beach is a few breaths away from Brooklyn right? To be exact, 9 minutes on a good day when there's no traffic!
Does anyone like to workout after work, like in the 9:30pm-11pm region? My Gym closes at 11pm and I still have elliptical at home to workout. Any preferences?0
