Hello everyone! I am a 34 midwesterner a wife and mother of one! I have had a weight struggle all my life and have had one very successful year of weightloss. PROBLEM...I didnt maintain and gained it back! I lost 96 pounds with weightloss competiton we had at work. I won the competiton, but was not able to keep it off. I extreme dieted--(ate so healthy and never cheated--and exercised 4+ hours a day).. When the game was over I lost motivation for such an extreme lifestyle.. So now here I go again trying to lose...BUT at a healthy rate and maintainable lifestyle.. My husband found this website and we both signed up/ He has about 30pounds to lose and I have about 120 to lose! i find that being over-weight I enjoy doing stuff and have a fairly active job (healthcare provider). I physically am a large person, but am active! Would love any advice, motivation or ideas on meal cooking from anyone!

First off, gratz for getting back at it!
Second, advise on here is sketchy sometimes and I urge you to use common sense when taking it.
That being said:
What has been working for me is following a paleo lifestyle. Very clean eating (your diet makes up a ton of your success) and exercise. I recovered from a stroke and lost 50lbs and have been feeling fantastic!
As you probably know by now 'extreme' solutions don't usually stick around long. Find something that you can sustain for the rest of your life.
Good luck!0 -

I was told 6 weeks ago that I had developed Diabetes type II and that I would have to change my life style. So I gave up all sodas and started to eat right. I bought a "Fix it and Forget it Diabetic Cookbook". My wife and I prepare a meal in the crock pot at 6 am, set it on a timer to come on and go off when we get home. When we walk in dinner is ready. Might have to cook some rice or vegies. I have lost 27 lbs and my wife has lost 11 lbs. For me it was without working out. I am now working out.
The key is eating right and portion control. If one serving is 4-5 oz of meat then that is all you have. That is about the size of your palm.
You don't have to be diabetic to eat meals from a diabetic cookbook. The meals are low cal and low in sugar which is good for everyone. That is how you lose weight low sugar and cal.
Stick to it and don't cheat.0 -
Welcome!! I am glad you and your husband have joined! Don't think of this as a diet, but a lifestyle change.0
