do you eat when you're hungry? do you eat more than you're allotted if you're actually physically hungry-- or do you only eat what and when you tell yourself you can/you schedule? i was trying to go light today and tomorrow because of thanksgiving upcoming, but I'm SO hungry today. Even with lots of protein and water-y fruits/veggies. don't know what to do!

If my stomach is growling and i have hunger pangs, then i'm doing something wrong xD shouldn't be going hungry!
I saute a whole onion yummm0 -
I continue to stuff my face and then exercise more later.0

I tend to go for a walk if I'm hungry or tackle a physical household job. That way if I'm still hungry afterwards I'll have earned some calories that I can eat . Then it's a bowl of homemade soup, if there is some in the fridge, or tinned tomatoes on one round of toast.0

how are your macros? sounds like your protein is in check, how about healthy fats?
try to find foods/cals that are more filling. for some reason I find tuna REALLY filling, and it's pretty low in cals (although higher in sodium)...but I'm not concerned.
for me, I try to have a little portion of healthy carbs, protein and healthy fat at my meals - if i do this, I seem to be more full.
I say that if you are really hurting and hungry, grab some healthy snacks and eat up. remember, it's the long haul, not the short sprint in getting there.
good luck!!!0 -
If I ate when I was hungry, I'd be fat as hell.0

If my stomach is growling, I'm shaky, etc., I eat. Of course I eat! Why wouldn't I give my body what it needs? If I'm thirsty, I drink water. If I'm tired, I rest. If I'm hungry, I eat. Seems pretty logical to me.
If we're talking about cravings, I try to ignore those. That's not hunger, that's cravings. But if you are physically hungry, it doesn't make sense not to eat.0 -
I wish I could only eat when I'm hungry. This time of year I tend to eat because it's available. I intended to eat light today but every other person in the office brought food and now I'm beyond stuffed.
Of course if I could control those urges I wouldn't need this site to loose weight. Sigh ... a never ending problem.
Gonna have to start another round of P90X ASAP.0 -
I know my body thinks food when I'm bored. I'll push off cravings with water, but if my body is telling me that it needs to eat a couple of times in a short time period, I'll find the healthiest thing around. I try to bring several snacks with me to work just in case, and rarely eat them all.0

Depending on how many calories I have eaten I will eat..... Try drinking some water if you have eaten enough and are still hungry. Or eat something low calories that is filling. You can eat 2 c of salad for around 20 calories and if you eat slowly it will fill you and your stomach won't know the difference.0

If you are just getting started, you may need a couple of days for your stomach to "shrink." Beyond that, I find a handful of almonds (10 to 20) takes the edge off my hunger. Or 4 to 6 oz of low fat cottage cheese or Greek yogurt helps. Better to eat a couple of hundred extra calories and stop the gnawing hunger or put it at bay. Otherwise, you may gourge and binge.0

HCG helps me with this.0

Just how much protein are you actually eating? (in grams)0

I learned to tell the difference between real hunger and bored/stress eating, and I eat when I'm hungry. I also drink when I'm thirsty. I have beers when I'm feeling sober, too, just in case.0

You've got to eat to fuel your body.
You should not let yourself feel like you are starving or have hunger pangs (IMO). Just make good choices and you can literally eat all day. If your worried about going over your calories for the day get in some exercise and eat those calories too.0 -
I have protein shakes for two meals a day which keep me from being hungry (mostly) If I do get hungry outside of my one meal, I am allowed snakes within my calorie goal. In face I'm roasting Brussels sprouts and Cauliflower right now as a snake before I have my protein shake for dinner. I would suggest up-Ing your protein!
I take in 99g a day0 -
If you find yourself at a point that you are starving, then you should look over your meal plan for the day
When The Afternoon/afterwork munchies creep in have some water & a healthy snack handy to tide you over.
(I just had an apple & 2 cups of water.)
Play with your eating times.
If its at night after youve had dinner & you find yourself hungry then try eating dinner a little later or fill up on a more satisfying meal.
Get up & clean, chew some gum & read a magazine. Pick up a hobby, put together a puzzle, go for a walk. etc. Stay busy. Or have a healthy snack, I take an apple & dice it up while I watch tv or something it helps keep me busy & its 80 calories.
There are so many low cal treats out there. Play around with your planning & see what works for you, change the time of meals around, add protein, watch your whites, etc. Have fun0 -
True hunger is our body's way of letting us know it needs fuel. In this case, something high in fiber (almonds, carrot sticks, or whole fruit) may help. If, however, the problem is an office full of coworkers that love to bake (like mine) sugar free gum can block the smell of tempting treats which is where my cravings tend to start.0

The first thing I do when i feel "hungry" is to take a big drink of water. If 5 - 10 minutes after that I still feel hungry I will take a snack (if it is not close to a meal time). I try to keep it small. Just enough to keep the hunger at bay.
Recently though (past month or so) I find that I am not as hungry as I used to be. I have a pretty decent routine and as long as I manager what & when I eat. I do not get any more serious hunger pains, like I got when I first started to serious try and lose weight. Also, my exercise regime is pretty consistent. So I try and get some form of a snack in at least 90 min before I workout. I have found that this cuts down on the post workout hunger.0 -
I eat more when stressed and bored:( Its hard to maintain control.0

You ever see those ads with the little hunger monster?
Those were funny.0 -

That's how I think of it - if my stomach is rumbling, I eat, even if I am already at or over my calories for the day. This usually happens to me at night, which is annoying because I can't exercise it off, but I also can't sleep if I'm hungry.
Trying to check in with myself when I feel "hungry" to see if I really am or I just feel like eating something.0 -
I found out the majority of the time, I am not hungry but thirsty.. I know.. Strange xx
Also if I eat crappy carbs, like for example, cakes, then I need to eat more late at night.. then I dotn stop I go on and on.... But if I stay away from the majority of carbs then I find I am ok..............
That is just me............. xxxxxxxxx0 -
to be honest, I dont think I have EVER been hungry... xx0

Hunger can be because your hungry 1, dehydrated 2, or just because you want the food!3~ this is mostly me lol... It's mental for most!..just understand that the amount you eat depends on how active you are. I say eat till your satisfied... drink plenty of water. once you understand how much your body needs being hungry is of little importance... or you can just eat till you feel full and as long as your active and not gaining weight YAY YOU!!..0
