Hi, I have no problems with working out. As a matter of fact I work out pretty intense 6 times a week and I have done so for quite some time now. However, I have a real problem with diets. I can't stick to a strict diet, but I don't think I eat that bad as a whole.

Does anybody have any tips? I try and eat a fruit in the morning followed by a yogurt for a snack until lunch. Then Lunch varies, but usually it is something low in calories. Dinner I have the hardest time, but I don't eat horribly.

Any easy to follow suggestions? I would like to see some good results here soon. :)

I always felt like I had a decent diet... ate lots of fruit and veggies, mostly whole grains etc. But never really had any results even with high calorie burn at the gym. I started increasing my protein (mostly chicken, fish, lean beef) and lowering the carbs I ate. Maybe 1 piece of fruit daily and green veggies through out the day. And that really seemed to work for me. I know high protein diets can be controversial, but for me it really worked and I don't feel hungry during the day. Not really following any diet (atkins, south beach etc,) just made the switch myself... take a look at your protein. I try to eat 1 g of protein for every lb of lean mass I have. oh, and drink lots of water!

    Thanks

How strict is your daily carb limit? A while back I tried the low carb diet, and it worked amazingly, but as soon as I stopped doing that I gained back all the weight plus more! Now I am seeking more of a daily life change that I can be happy with.

I'm not that strict... on average I probably keep the carbs to around 45g per day... but always try to keep protein up around 100 or so. Some days I have really low carbs... like 20, others I end up with 50 or 60. And I allow myself 1 day a week (normally a Saturday) to eat the things I have been craving. I will even go over my calorie limit for the day... but not go crazy.

I could never do the super low carb intense diet like Atkins. But I do find if I stick with higher protein though out the day and lower carbs... I can loose weight and not be starving all the time. It can be difficult sometimes, because I love to cook and to bake... seriously my only hobby. :) But, my body feels better when I don't eat a bunch of carbs. I have never really liked potatoes of any kind so that is easy to avoid. I do love bread...so I let myself have that on my cheat day. I try to stick with berries for my fruit, greek plain yogurt, nuts, eggs, chicken, fish, love arugula with olive oil and lemon so I have that with a lot of my meals... avocados etc. I try to find things that can replace bread and flour... like if I want breaded chicken, I take almonds and grind them in my food processor until they are supper fine and use that as a breading... works like a charm. Or use lettuce to make tacos instead of tortilla etc. Stuff like that has made it totally possible for me to enjoy food and keep my carbs much lower.

Good luck to you. I swear this diet thing is a real pain :) I am hoping one day it wont feel like a diet, and will just feel like a way of life, but I assume that will just take patience and time :)
