this weekend I have a drinks with the girls night.. its mostly to celebrate my recent engagement as I was so busy at my engagement party I didn't get a chance to spend much time just with my best girl friends
I want to be able to drink with them and have a bit of fun
how should I approach this so that it doesn't totally screw all my hard work?

Definitely plan ahead.
Choose you drinks wisely and and old trainer of mine told me to always have a glass of water in between each drink.
Maybe end your girls night with dancing and burn off a bunch of the calories you take in - That's what I did that last weekend.
Have fun!!!
THIS!
I had a night out for Mexican and margaritas last week with friends. It's easy with that combo to go crazy but I planned out what I was going to eat and drink that night and worked hard for some extra calories the couple days before so that for the week I was still on track. If you plan ahead you'll enjoy the night more because you won't be worried about what you're consuming, you'll already know.
Have a great night and congrats on your engagement!0 -
Congratulations on your engagement!
When I'm going on a night out I usually go for a good workout in the afternoon and try to eat low cal but filling throughout the day.
Great idea to go dancing to burn the cals!
Have a fab time with your girlfriends0 -
just what you say, drink with them and have a bit of fun!! its one evening, enjoy!0

lunges, squats, and little weights the day before. You'll still be burning calories the next day. Also, dance your *kitten* off! You're celebrating!0

It's one night. Enjoy it. Have what you want and the next day go back to your regular routine. One night here and there won't ruin your hard work. I have one (sometimes 2) nights a week and I'm doing just fine, losing weight and staying sane. Even if the scale says something ridiculous the next day it's going to be mostly water weight. A pound is roughly 3500 calories so you'd have eat (or drink) that plus whatever your maintenance calories are to truly gain a single pound. Enjoy your night out with your girlfriends. Being healthy doesn't mean you have to never have a few drinks or some bar food again. You just can't do it all the time.0

shave legs, apply mascara, and rock it0

Enjoy yourself and pick back up the next day. One evening isn't going to physically derail your progress. Unless, of course, you can't deal with it in your mind in which case I would say avoid it altogether. It's really a judgement call on your part whether you have the discipline to take a night off and get back on it or let it derail you completely.0

Flavored vodka, water and lemon and/or lime. Have a few of those, drink plenty of water in between, and good luck. I have yet to practice restraint when I'm out with friends. I usually just try to add in some kind of work out, eat healthier that day, and make up for it later. Fun with booze and weight loss don't seem to go hand in hand.0

I like this.
One night isn't going to undo all your hard work unless you let yourself believe you've undone all your hard work and go into a depression-fueled feeding frenzy.0 -

Don't forget to do a pre-party rally and drink some of your own booze first*!
*unless you're driving, of course.0 -

That's exactly what I do too! I like to have a good week before, lots of working out and healthy eating, then your weekly average will still hold. Don't drink too many beers or sugary drinks, a flavored vodka with club soda is super yum! Or just regular mixed drinks with diet soda if you like that. And dancing is GREAT!
Also, like other people said, just don't think about it too much that night and have fun! One good/bad night won't ruin everything! You're allowed to still have fun0 -
thanks everyone for your replies and congrats makes me feel a lot more comfortable to just have a good time.
i think i will just work out hard the next few days do a work out the morning before and then just have fun!0
