Salads are high calorie foods when they aren’t made at home.. I picked up a Costco Caesar Salad and shared it with my boyfriend… He ate most of it and I had… Probably 1/3 of it OR LESS.

I then looked online, which I shoulda done first, and saw that it is over 700 calories for that salad! REALLLYYY? That’s half of my daily calories pretty much… Good thing I didn’t eat it all cause I still want dinner, and snacks LOL.
The little bit of shredded cheese and the dressing was probably where most of the calories… I didn’t eat any of the chicken, bf claimed it all LOL.

Ill stick to making my salad at home with fat free Italian dressing!

"Caesar Salad
With chicken, the salad has 756 calories, 61 g of fat, 33 g of protein and 16.83 g of carbs. The chicken itself contains 258 calories, 10.4 g of fat, 33.3 g of protein and no carbs."

yup I noticed that too... I can't believe how many calories are in salads at resturants.. crazy...
  • Pretty common story in the restaurant business. That's why I take my iPhone out and look up calories on MFP or Calorie King before I eat anything!

    Hahahaaa!
  • It's mostly the dressing. We still use the Costco salad as our backup plan when we're short on time, but we have them keep the croutons, and we throw the dressing away as soon as we open it. Then we use either a low fat/low cal dressing from the store, or my wife makes her own vinegar & oil dressing. Doing it this way, the salad itself, with the chicken & shredded parmesan, is about 195 calories. Sodium's still a little high, about 176; I think that's mostly from the chicken, which is probably sodium infused. Add about 75 cal. for dressing, and it's not a bad way to go when you don't have time to prepare dinner.

Yea I bet. I know most dressings given are high calorie wise. its just silly to think about the people who dont really think about the extras... I almost always 86 dressings on salads. But what about the people who order a salad to try and get healthy and not know about the dressing....

I say resuraunts should all have caloric content LOL It would make my decisions a lot better!
