My BMR is 1602 and it has me eating 1500 calories a day to lose a pound a week? Is this right? Thanks so much!

Sounds about right. But I'm no expert. I'm sure you'll get some other responses
  • Remember that a pound equals 3500 calories. IF you only have a 700 calorie deficit by diet, the other 2800 has to come by exercise. I suggest maybe a 1300 or 1350 calorie a day diet. The minimum MFP will let you go is 1200 calories per day as too few calories is equally destructive as over eating.

I suggest you confirm your activity level and other data just to be sure, but 1500 may work for you. Give it a few weeks, if you are not happy with results, manually change your goal settings.

Yes but TDEE and BMR are two very different things, what is your activity level set as?
eg i eat 1600 per day and my TDEE is 2100, but my BMR is 1632

    My bmr is a little over 1600. I eat 1540 a day. 1800+ if I workout. I've lost 1.5 To 2.5 a week.

If your BMR is 1602 then you should probably not net any less than 1602.

  • I'm walking 4 times a week for 40 minutes each time! The reason why I ask is I lost 2.2 pounds the first 2 weeks but last week gained 2 and didn't blow it on my diet so I am just confused. Thanks!
