In September I fractured my ankle and sprained my ankle from my ankle down to my toes. Luckily, I didn't need surgery. Sadly, I'm not cleared to strap on skates til New Years'. I'd love to report that it was the result of an legendary derby wipeout worthy of passing on to the future derby generations, but the truth is I was wandering around my front yard and fell. In the dark. While looking at the sky. Totally sober, (not that sobriety lasted long thereafter - that **** hurt).

I plan on using an ankle support but is there anything else that could help, or that I should consider in the meantime? I'm almost through with the rehab excersising my doctor assigned. Any advice I could use to not only prevent harm but also promote skating ability will be sooooooooooooooooo appreciated:flowerforyou:

Thank you!!!!!!

Learn how to tape your ankle. I messed up my ankle pretty badly as a teen (fractured in three places, dislocated, ruptured tendons and ligaments, surgery with I can't remember how much metal, surgery a year later to take that metal out, surgery six years after that to clean up the surface of the cartilage and chip off a bone spur!). I can do most things without a brace/taping, but when I was playing squash I would tape it and then put the air cast over that and it was pretty stable. :-) I wish I knew where to point you for info on how to tape your ankle, but I got it from a friend's old book! Try googling it and see what you can find!

Actually, maybe your PT knows how to do it and could show you. Good luck!
