Compliment?

I ran into two of my aunts yesterday and sat to chat with them for a while before I had to run off to work. My weight came up, and they both were under the impression that I "don't need to lose any more weight. look fine the way I am." I know they meant it as a compliment, but it really isn't helpful. I have a goal and I'd like to meet it, and having people trying to discourage me is not what I need. I KNOW they didn't mean it that way, but... but...

Won't I know when I'm "done" or whatever?

I hope I don't sound like a total B!

  • It is totally understandable! They are just looking out for you! Go ahead and reach your goal, I've been told the same thing recently though I don't agree with it, I'd still like to reach my goal! So, you should too! GOOD LUCK~!
  • I get that often too. As long as your goal is not unhealthy ignore what they say. It may be that they are jealous of your success and don't want any more interruption to the status quo because it means they would have to think about making a change too. Continue what you are doing, you are doing this for you, not them. Just make sure you being healthy about it :)

I'm sure your aunts aren't jealous... they are just trying to say that you look good! Nothing more... nothing less. Not everyone in our lives is trying to sabotage us!

I suggest that when someone you love tells you that you don't need to lose any more weight, that you just respond with a "thank you"... and leave it at that. We don't need to explain why we think we need to lose that last 8 (or 80) pounds.
