What is your favorite food of Thanksgiving? What can you live without? Do you have any unique or unusual Thanksgiving traditions?
I'm probably most excited for mashed potatoes and gravy. And my MIL makes a pretty good cold cranberry salad that's way better than the junk in a can. Although, if I have the opportunity to taste some junk in a can, I always do.. makes me feel like a kid again!
I'm in charge of the sweet potato casserole this year! I make the best sweet potato casserole!

I LOVE mashed potatoes. That's probably what I'm looking forward to the most. That and pie.
Also, my grandmother's green beans are freakin' awesome.0 -
Rolls and Stuffing and then casseroles. I love me a casserole.0

My favorite is our family tradition "Corn Thing". It's been a part of the four Thanksgivings I've celebrated since I moved to America. Corn thing is basically Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix mixed as usual - but with butter, cream corn and sour cream added. It is DELICIOUS!0

I love the canned cranberry sauce even though I know it would be better to make my own...
We have a small family--and what family there is, is mostly out of state. And my mom doesn't really like turkey...so for the 3 of us (me, mom and grandma) we usually do something else, like roast chicken or cabbage rolls (cabbage and meatballs)...this year my mom is making pot roast and baked potatoes. But she DOES bake a pie...from scratch...that's always the best part!0 -

mMmmm i LOVE mashed potatoes w/gravy and deviled eggs! my mom makes the BEST deviled eggs ive ever tasted and i can not pass one up! stuffing, turkey, green beans, cranberry, etc i can all live without lol
my nana also makes the BEST chicken fried steak in the WORLD!!!(she makes this every thanksgiving and christmas) and there is NO WAY i could ever give that up! i would definitely be able to classify nanas homemade chicken fried steak with gravy and #1 on my list!0 -
I make kugel for Thanksgiving, and oh my god it is too delicious.
I also really love stuffing that has dried cranberries and apples in it0 -
Our unusual tradition is that we completely ditch traditional meal items in favor of a day-long movie fest where each person picks a movie (total of 5 for the day), and then is responsible for making an appropriate dish and drink inspired or related to the movie.
My movie this year is "Monty Python's Meaning of Life", for which I am making a low-fat grilled "salmon mousse" with fennel, and a drink I invented made with creme de cacao and bailey's mint called a "wafer thin mint."
My sister's movie is "Watership Down" for which she is making a rabbit food salad [e.g., raw veggies and dip], and "hraka"--mini chocolate & oatmeal crumbles rolled to look like rabbit droppings.
It's REALLY fun!0 -

I love Thanksgiving. Growing up I got sick of having turkey every year so we started doing themes. Regional Thanksgiving dinners. We used to do lobsters a lot. Even now I can live without the turkey, though I've started to enjoy it more recently. For several years I did all the sides without the bird, though getting a good gravy is much harder that way. The only thing that is absolutely mandatory is pumpkin and apple pie. I need to have both. Caramelized nut tart made it's debut last year and it may have become a regular part of the line-up. This year the nut tart will be grain free.0

Turkey. Oh man the turkey is the point of the whole dinner.
Also PIE! PIES FOREVER! Gimme that pumpkin pie! The whole thing.0 -
I like the things I cant get on a daily basis.. So sweet potato casserole, turkey, green bean casserole.... Can't think of anything else off the top of my head. Most however, I can live without.0

I am so boring - not a fan of gravy or stuffing or sweet potatoes, but I do LOVE turkey and especially the leftover turkey on sandwiches. What I look forward to the most is the turkey and the apple pie. Mostly just family . And the turkey. Did I mention the turkey?0

What I look forward to the most is chocolate chip pecan pie with homemade whipped cream. The turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc.... I make at other times during the year. I only make chocolate chip pecan pie on Thanksgiving.0

stuffing and deviled eggs0

i look forward to pretty much everything on thanksgiving.
but oddly enough, i never buy cool whip ... and i bought cool whip for the pie.
yeah, im weird. whatev.0 -
Throw me a giant drumstick and I'm pretty happy, although sweet potatoes with marshmallows are a close second.0

My favorite is the cranberry sauce (I dump it on everything, especially good on the sweet potatoes) and the pumpkin pie. But this year I'm hanging out with some people that always just get food from an Italian restaurant, which is fine by me. Teh turkey is overrated.0
