Check out Massage Envy. They offer package deals. I'm not sure what your local place would charge, but I pay about $45/month I think for an hour-a-month package.
But yea, I guess with tip it is nearing $60/hr. Save up 2 months and get a 2-hour. Oh my my!! very relaxing and gets all the knots out.0 -
I've been thinking about getting one soon. It's been a number of years.0

I'm too ticklish... my friend took me to the spa for her birthday and apparently heard me laughing all the way from her room =/
I hear they're wonderful though!0 -
Here is the thing - the therapist may have a special deal. I offer 15.00 off of any massage within 30 days of a full price massage. So first massage 60 and any massage within 30 days of that 45.00.
I wouldn't go to massage envy. I would find one therapist and build a relationship with them. That is when you get the best care - in my opinion.
Glad to hear you are taking care of yourself. Massage is very important. I wish families would just have massage nights and take turns massaging the stress out of their weeks.0 -
i wouldnt mind trying that. i am super ticklish too though. especially my upper back. were 99% of my knots probably are. lol0

If the therapist uses adequate pressure.. it should not be an issue. No guarantee, but in my experience it isn't an issue. Even on the feet!0 -
I used to go regularly to my chiro who had massage therapists that do deep tissue, but then I had another kid ..lol. However, they were very helpful and now that things have settled i'm going to go back a bit more regularly because i can feel knots and tightness that I can't work out myself and I think it's hindering my work outs a bit. I love love love deep tissue massage. It is so very helpful, then I get an adjustment from the chiropractor afterwards.0

I had a few deep tissue massages at my Chiro and though the massage therapist was a tiny thing, when she started working on a knot, I thought Chuck Norris came in and took over..
Several hours later and after the bag of frozen peas, my back felt fantastic.0 -
I`ve been getting them monthly for the last little while. And at first, they hurt like heck, but now I am starting to feel a difference. Although my back is a total mess, scar tissue all throughout it -- I`m hoping long term it helps0

yep.
I go once a month or so. Love it.
When I was in Thailand it was every second day for $5 a massage. Felt like a millionaire there!0 -

I also belong to massage envy and I love it, you can find a therapist you like a build a repore just like anywhere else. I usually go 2x -3x a month. it is $49 a month for a monthly massage and any other massages I get are $39 for a 1 hr massage. I have fibromyalgia so they really help me be able to exercise......0

I try to go every 6-8 weeks and time it so I am taking a break from the gym at the same time........at least 3-4 days off. Love it!!0

Thai massage places in the US are usually around 35-45 in my area (so cal). Anyone compare thai massage to other types of deep tissue? It feels good but I found a cheap chinese place that does half deep tissue (sloppily with their elbows and knees ahha) and feet for $20.0

My 8 yr. old daughter walks on my back for free Seriously. She does WONDERS! The first couple of times she's done it, I had to remind her not to JUMP off my back when she's done, but otherwise it really does feel good. She can even feel the knots in my back with her feet! (She's about 63 lbs, not sure I could handle too much more weight though.)
I also have something called a "Theracane". It's a large plastic-type thing that has knobs and hooks on it. You position it on your back and pull. You wouldn't believe the knots you can find with that thing.0 -
Cool Thanks everybody0

My gym has a spa. as does the hair salon that I go to. I never really get hour massages and I don't see the point.. I normally go for a half an hour back, neck and shoulder massage, as they are cheaper and thats where I hold most of my stress anyway. To get a 30 minute massage it's normally around 45-50 dollars in my area.
If I want to get knots out in my legs, then I have my trainer take a foam roller to my quads and get the knots out.0
