Is jealousy or envy?

Someone told me that I need to stop dieting and eat normal and hit the weights. After they told me that they told me how a trainer told him to shred some weight before doing some weight lifting. Seems like everyday now for the last couple of weeks people want to tell me how to lose weight or work out when they do neither one of those things in their lives. I'm just venting.. lol .. hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving weekend!

To me venting is healthy! Sorry to hear about people telling you what to do and how to do it. That really sucks.0

Sounds like insecurity to me.
They definitely see you are on the right track though, otherwise they wouldn't say anything.
Keep your head up and keep doing what you are doing. (And if you can, keep your mouth shut) lol. This is harder for some than others.
When I first started MFP, everyone had an opinion and I politely listened without responding.
They are ALL on MFP now.0 -

NO kidding lol0 -
Yup. They're just unhappy that they're lifestyle isn't working for them.0

I know where you care coming from. I am fed up with people asking my family members how I am losing so much weight. This is coming from someone that has a family member that got a tummy tuck and still looks fat. People are assuming that I took the "easy" way out. My satisfaction is that it must bug them so much they can't leave it alone. People don't want to put a little effort into getting in shape and staying that way. They seem to look for a quick fix and that is exactly what they end up getting. Okay, I am done!! lol0

yup everyone has an opinion. know a super thin chick who tries to eat healthy fats, yet everyone around her says to stop eating so much fat. but its healthy and good for you! its insane. if you know your doing right by you, ignore them ppl don't seem to understand the whole "everyone is unique" or different concept. weight loss is NOT one size fits all. but ppl got mouths they must open. they just have to bark off a bunch of yappy crap. just walk away and ignore it. your doing fine i'm sure!

I say just do what works for you! I find people trying to tell me that eating one brownie, or one cookie isn't a big thing, and offering me the things that they know I have the hardest time staying away from... so, I smile, say no, and wait for them to tell me how I don't know how to eat! It gets to be funny after a while!0

Stay on course! You are doing what is best for you. Haters are just doing their jobs, pay them no mind. Have a great day.0

Yeah it's comical to hear people rant and try to offer advice, maybe I should just entertain them and laugh out loud in my head.. lmbo0

@TazzytheMotiv great advice. I totally agree with you.
I think the first move is to set your goals. For example:
GOAL 1: What weight and measurement/clothing size would you like to be in 8 weeks?
GOAL 2: What weight and measurement/clothing size would you like to be in 6 months?
THE NEW YOU: What are you looking for in the new you? More energy, greater confidence, improved appearance, feeling younger?
REWARD: How will you reward yourself? A vacation, new clothes, a day at a health spa, a visit to the hair salon for a new look?
Before you start it's very important to what results EXACTLY do you want to get. This will be the main energy/motivation that will push you to take action. Visualization is a very powerful method that can program your subconscious mind.
One more think, it's better to learn from the best (those who already succeeded and knows what they are talking about, so I highly suggest to find a working weight loss program. You can start with these reviews from

Thanks for the advice....now I'm even more motivated!0 -
I have an opinion on this.
I think that generally, people want to tell you how they think you should do things. If you happen to be out of shape and you're talking to someone who works out, this just compounds the problem because the person who works out will probably assume that they know better than you do.
I think that in general, people tend to model themselves or take advice from other people who have been successful. This is completely normal and it makes sense-- but in fitness, I think looking at someones muscles/body and assuming they know what they are talking about, can be a mistake. There's just an abundance of awful information and I wouldn't be surprised if a good chunk of it still exists because of bro to bro sharing of information. "Hey, that guy is jacked, he probably has good advice for me".
I'm rambling.
OP: You're off to a good start. Do some reading but don't complicate things.0 -

It's good to vent! I feel the same way girl! I hate it! I have this happen all the time and the funny thing is that when I needed to lose weight and had issues - no one said a word! LOL0
