How many times have you quit p90x?

I have finished my 3rd attempt a couple weeks ago, made it 11 days. I've been working out on an elliptical instead. Any thoughts on how to stick with the program? I can barely make it through the fit test as it is. Sometimes I wonder if doing so much of the workouts with chair modifications or extra breaks is helpful at all.

There is the starter program 'power 90' and thats not nearly as long, you can up the effort to your level and is doable in 30 to 40 mins rather than the longer p90x ones. Can only try. If it gets to the stage where it's hard to stick to, it might not be the right thing. best of luck with it though. P90x is a real butt kicker, my husband did it and lost 23 kgs. I am trying to stick to the power 90 but have found a new love for outdoor bike riding where I am getting triple the cals burnt. Not sure what I should stick to! lol, I should get back into it. Got up to day 23 and it's been 5 days since the last one. Because I have encouraged you, I will kick my own butt into gear and get back into it too! best of luck for what ever you choose. tony's programs are pretty good though. Cheers

I barely passed the fit test too but I'm currently on week 6.

I haven't done every single day though. Skipped a total of 3 workouts (2 were Yoga during week 4).

I don't do the workouts 100% either. I'm not that muscular, but I do my best.

As Tony Horton himself says, "Don't worry if you can't do everything, over time you'll get there." Or something like that.

Man up and don't quit! Do what you can and the workout will get better as you become stronger. I lost 27 pounds in 90 days using P90x. Working out is not suppose to be easy just stick with the program.

I started and finished on my first time too. My advice is stop thinking about and just keep going. What difference does it make if you're taking breaks or modifying? Find a support system and just do it. Be one of the ones who finishes instead of one of the ones who couldn't. Because that's really what it comes down to right? Can you or can't you? It's your choice.

P90x is for advanced and extreme. It's for someone who don't have much weight to lose and someone who do know how to do
the form correctly. If you only can do only 1/2 of the reps by week 2... you won't get all the benefit for P90X.
Charlean extreme is awsome. She's so good with motivation and keep repeat and show the correct form.
Her routine is only 1/2 hour and 5 days a week. Chalean xtreme is P90x version for women.

I stopped around day 70 about 3 years ago..... but i have incorporated the p90x exercises in my routine at the gym. I actually still do ab ripper X three times a week as i find that gets me the best ab burn. I put ab ripper on my iphone and ipod, just hearing it keeps me on track.

I did about 10 weeks then stopped cause i felt I was losing too much muscle. I was eating under maitenence, and losing weight..but strenght too.

I switched to weight-heavy routine after that and was way more satisfied.

That, and who really has 1.5hrs to do yoga...wtf

It was interesting, kinda fun and new though. Not sure it was right for me, but glad it made me track progress.

LOL . . . my husband completed the p90x/Insanity hybrid which kept it interesting to switch it up. I completed 63 days of Insanity (including fit test) but occasionally did the Ab RipperX because I'm too impatient with long drawn out p90x workouts. My husband and others had amazing results but you really need to find something that you enjoy and you can stick with. I find I work better with shorter programs or my own workout mix.

    3 or 4.
i don't have that much time, or motivation that late in the day.

the longest stretch i completed was when i was working less, and working out in the morning.

Really? The program is completely doable for women. I stopped because it was so damn BORING. DVD workout programs are not for me, I have found. But saying we should do a "woman's version" is just insulting.

Thanks for all the comments. It is good to hear from both people who did and didn't complete the course. I know I'll give it at least one more go. I may have to wait until the summer when my job's hours change from 10-12 hours shifts to 8 hours. Just a couple less excuses to get in the way. In the mean time I will probably continue my diet, elliptical, occasional weights plan. Maybe I'll even be just a bit lighter by the time I do it.

I'm currently in week 8 (should be in week 10), but have missed days for various reasons. I've thought about quitting a few times, but the weight loss (21 lbs), body change, strength increase and additional stamina keep pushing me through it.

Hated the 90 minute Yoga to start, now its my favorite. Works everything and the Yoga Belly workout near the end is great.

Because of my low basement drop ceiling, I can't do pull ups or use the bands, so I kneel and use dumb bells. You can modify most exercises to fit your body, and workout space

Don't give up, after the first few weeks you will begin to see and a big difference. Go to beachbody and watch some of the success stories or watch this video at youtube "From MS to P90X Success". I've watched this woman every time I think I'm too tired or too sore to workout.

    Good Luck

I know a lot of people who have started it and quit. Usually people quit it seems (from my experience) within the first 30 days if they are going to quit. I wanted to let you know that when I started it I was sore, I could not do a lot of the moves and took breaks constantly! There is nothing wrong with that and Tony is right - do your best and forget the rest! Just bring it, press play and finish what you start :) I know easier said than done but that is what I kept telling myself the entire time!!!!! A support group is also very good to have - so that you are able to stay motivated and so you can stay accountable each day! :) When I did my first round I could not do one pull up, I couldn't do Ab Ripper X without several modifications or omissions of moves and I wasn't keeping up with the group. Go at your own pace and keep pressing play!

I started my journey in June of 2010 and am still doing it today with Insanity, running and other cardio. Check out my profile on here and visit my page if you want more info!

I did it once all the way through and now just do it to fill in when I can't get to the gym in the mornings. The best advice I can give is mute Tony! They also have an iphone app now or you can print out the worksheets to take to the gym. never did the nutrition part. I was pretty impressed with my beginning/ending number of push ups. You might consider setting some mini goals just to get started....like 2x a week or just get through bicep day or just make it through the abs dvd. Good luck.

I've quit it 2 times. It's not that i can't keep up, I just don't get good results for all the time and work you have to put into it. I do Jillian Michaels that's not as long and the results are alot faster...

I am just about to start week 5 of my first round. I am adding in a little extra cardio, mostly because I have exercise ADD. :) I am a coach, by the way -- and I have a 31 day challenge starting on FB on Dec. 1st. Send me a message if you want more info -- I'd be happy to have you join!! :) Everyone in the group is on MFP.

Good luck to you -- stick with it!! Don't be afraid to mix it up and do a hybrid, and like I said -- feel free to send me a message if I can help you figure out how to make it work for you. :)
