After a long hard look at myself and the sort of person i have become, i have realised that i have actually been on nearly every single type of diet since the age of about 14!

i am your typical yo-yo dietier and i see fast results then suddenly go on a massive food binge and pile the weight back on, and within two weeks all my efforts are undone.

it took a slight intervention from my good friend who told me that its not about the dukan diet, or the atkins, or weight watchers etc... its about portion control. She is absolutly right.

When im dieting i am miserable! all i want to do is eat pasta and shove chocolates in my mouth. surley this is verging on insanity by depriving yourself of foods you love to the point where you give up and binge?

iv spent the last 4 months or so trying to fight of this cold which wont shift. im clearly not getting all the nutrients i need for my body to function properly,

if i have learnt one good thing from some of these diets it is portion control. i think i am now ready to bin all the "fad" diets and just eat healthy and properly and if i want pasta for dinner then ill bloody well have it!

kinda feels like a huge weights been lifted actually. :o)

just some advise for anyone who this this sounds all to familiar.... dont waste your life worrying about what your going to put into your mouth. relax and enjoy :o) xx

I am with you. I lose, then binge. I need to control more everyday instead of eating nothing one day, then eating 3 days worth another day!

I just wish I could eat a small amount of something naughty, but I end up binging if I do!

    Good luck x

If you struggle with the diet then a good way to lose is to make it up with exercise. If you log everything you eat on here and you find yourself over, as long as you then work that off you will continue losing.

    Good luck! x
  • Wise words! I've been in the same situation, trying all types of diets and they've never worked for me! I told myself for a long time it was only because I still lived at home and my parents had control over what types of food we had, but really it was mostly because it was the wrong way to go about losing weight :)

I've now started on a healthy mix of smaller portions, more greens and fruit combined with fitness, and for the first time ever, it works :D and yes.. I still eat candy when going to the cinema and I still eat pasta, cause I want to :D

I really struggled at start with calorie counting but I was still including carbs when I dropped them I'm losing consistently even with treat meals This week I had McDonalds and I've had TOTM and I still lost 3 lbs besides the water weight that went on form TOTM. .. although its probably cos I burned loads pushing myself around shopping centre for like 4 hours.

But the wrap was in wheat tortilla and the chicken was fried breadcrumbs but still managed to lose so I'm thrilled. I stay mostly low carb most of the week then throw in a treat meal at the weekend and it works for me with the exercise too.

Everybody is different so really its not about a specific diet its about finding what works for you!

I am 100% the same as you apart from I managed to keep the weight off for 2 years but then formed an Eating Disorder. Now I am fully recovered - all weight gained back I lost but ready to lose weight the healthy way and set a healthy example for other people around me :)

You are so right...there is more to life than weight and size. We should be living our lives no merely exisiting being skinny!!

I find that when you have more interesting things going on in your life you start to become less interested in being thin.

After all you don't want to look back on your life and think...I was really thin and kept up that thinness until my last breath...you want to look back on your life and think....wow that was one heck of a ride!!

Experiences in life make us who we are :) x
